Fake or legit Russia 10 kopecks 1820? [solved]

7 posts • viewed 153 times

Hi,

I bought a coin on eBay, but I suspect it is a fake. However, it could be a variety (although I doubt it). I think it should be N#26900. Can anyone help me here? Thanks!

Diameter: 16,5 mm

Weight: 2,01 grams

They say "Pecunia non olet", but I know better...

Looks OK according to this:

100 percent real. Difficult to fake ridges with that level of detail.

Agreed. Authentic with honest wear and patina.

That’s unexpected! I really thought it was fake because of the diameter. Thanks 🙂

You have days like that, the Princess kissed the Frog, and unexpected things came after….

When collecting Russian coins always keep in mind that they never had good quality control. Weights and diameters can be all over the place. 1 mm in terms of coin diameter is not a big deal. For both banknotes and coins. British and their colonies on the other hand had great quality control for centuries and you will seldom find significant discrepancies.
