Recently I found a Queen Elizabeth Milled Sixpence on eBay described as Hammered it had a hole in it but looked quite good and as QEI Milled coins are expensive in any Grade the Price of £64 was a barging or as I thought. On closer inspection I found it to be a Fake I presume far east copy with this I asked the Seller if he would send me the Dimension's and the weight but no reply came with this I reported this to eBay on there system but up to today have not received a reply from them. The Sixpence was sold for £64 so some unsuspecting buyer thought he had got a bargain when in truth he paid £61.01 above the price you can get one for on Amazon. I did not bid on this and am not disappointed. The point is please be carful when using Social media to buy Coins as you can so easily be ripped off as this proves if it seems to good to be true it most probably is.

I have just pointed out 4 of the faults there are many more pointers to show its not a genuine QEI Sixpence.

Genuine QEI Milled Sixpence

Thanks for the photos. I would have never known.

Feebay don't care - they get money from success fees. That coin is so dodgy its not true, perfectly round planchet, holes looks like they have been pierced with a steel drill and the detail is wrong. Plus the metal looks like lead/steel.

Chinese fake - the fact the seller did not respond, is a red flag. Anyone worth their salt would eagerly answer questions about a coin like that - good detective work Ian!  But you can't save some people from their own stupidity - as the old adages go, there is a sucker born every minute and a fool and their money are soon parted.

I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

You are correct the other main culprits are Amazon and Government who turn a blind eye to the fake coinage comeing out of China that is not identified as they should be.

Some sellers are discrete in mentioning that the coin on sale is a copy.
