Greetings,

I have started various other forum topics about creating different western territories as sub-issuers of USA. These seem unpopular. However, a new idea occurred. Instead of leaving the different territorial gold coins in exonumia why not just create the currency “Western Dollar” and put the territorial gold in the coin catalogue. We need the “Western Dollar” is for a few reasons. First, it would be beneficial to have official territorial coinage in the coin catalogue. Second, outsiders of Numista will understand that these coins were circulating in the West and were circulating differently than the federal coinage. Finally, if we add “Western Dollar” it will give territorial gold coins the representation they need. Please upvote this if you agree. Thank you.

So you want to create a virtual currency called “Western Dollar” to legitimize exonumia in the coin catalog? That sounds like a very bad idea.

They say "Pecunia non olet", but I know better...

I disagree. The territorial gold coins are not exonumia, as they circulated and some of them were even officially issued by the different territorial governments.

I do agree with smvdbrink!

Rejected. Currency is not a field aiming at giving visibility to anything, it is a factual field.

I think if a coin was intended for circulation, was issued by a entity that controlled said territory and was actually used, it should be in the catalogue.
