Hi everyone,

I would like to hint at the not issued banknotes given in the subject: Each denomination exists with the same overprint in three colours - BLUE, RED and GREEN (aaprentely given als “black” in the current descriptions).  The variety lists are closed and don't allow to add another variety. The lists should be reopened, e.g. updated, so I'll be able to add my personal item:-)

Best wishes,

Nick

The overprint is in green in the main image on the listing of the 10.000 note.

I would suggest adding the other colours as entries down in the Dates section, where the note is made of the black overprint - if the black overprint doesn’t exist, then I would suggest that this is amended.

A quick google search reveals images of notes with overprints in red, green, and blue - no instances of black.

scwpm [23ed, p.1115] notes the overprint inconsistently, not for all denominations, and does not note its colour.

Hi Nicks:

Is a long time from this thread was started, and I just found it now. Anyways, I think there is a bit of information that would be good to know.

First of all, I was never contacted with regards to this issue, or I should have answered before.

Now, maybe you are a bit confused about the overprints, maybe cause of the language.

The image in note page is from the note in my collection. The overprint is black, for some reason, in the picture seems to be a greenish effect that is not the real on. It can be clearly seen on the watermark image, that was made with back light.

This note, along with N$ 1000 from 1989 and N$ 5000 from 1989, were never issued, I think cause were used designs from other face values (N$ 1000 vs N$ 100 000; N$ 5000 vs N$ 200 000; and N$ 10 000 vs N$ 500 000), not sure if the designs were asked meaning to, or was a mistake, the real thing is there are not other notes with same FV at the moment. Also is noticeable, the currency was reformed very short later (not issued notes show 1989 date, but they really reached our country on 1991 or 1992, and decision of currency reform was took on 1993. It is usual note be put into circulation some time after the date they show, when new notes are needed to replace worn old.

Later, some years after demonetization, Central Bank of Uruguay, created an album containing the series (named as “Serie armonica” = armony series), containing the issued notes that were not put into circulation, and also the not issued ones. They were made in 3 different batches, so that is the reason for overprint were in different colors. I will search about the colors used, and the order of them, and would add to year lines or description.

Just 10 options: you understand binary, or you don't.
