Help with countermark on Ottoman coin [solved]

Hi folks,

At the weekend got this little golden beauty: N#33483 .

It's almost perfect except for a small impact mark in the middle, but when I was preparing for photographing it I noticed that the mark is actually some sort of countermark.

Are you guys able to determine what is the countermark and what it means?

Just a small bump as this thread fell to page 2 unanswered.

From what I can see, there are two countermarks. The one on the right I can't read. The one on the left seems to say “21” (٢١) followed on the left by some letter(s) I can't make sense of.

Hypothesis: Revaluation from 25 to 21 Kurus because of changing price of gold??

Interesting theory, it would be very nice if it turns out to be true.

But when I searched on Google about other specimens of the coin, there was no other coin with a similar mark.

The 21 is indeed the only part easily readable of the countermark. And I noticed the second mark after the photos.

You mean a Hejaz countermark? I doubt it. But let's hear the experts.

Usually, pawnshops countermarked gold and large silver coins directly in the presence of the client. 21 may be the day of redemption of the coin, and the second countermark may be the name of the pawnshop, or the name of the merchant.

anyway, it is a private countermark, - not related to the circulation or denomination of the coin.
