Adding UPC/EAN as a reference type or it's own data field.   Many modern products have a UPC unique identifier.   It would be fantastic to scan a UPC as a search item.   If there is a UPC, an original list price would be a great asset as well.

Thank you.

Hello,

If you are wondering what UPC means (like I was), read: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Product_Code

Basically that's the barcode number.

I understand sometimes it may be easy to search by barcode number. Still I believe the added value is quite limited.

Also, the UPC varies based on the packaging. So one coin may have several UPC's and one UPC may correspond to several coins in the set.

This is challenging to manage until we list sets on Numista.

Therefore I prefer not to implement it for the moment.

You may add the data in the Comment section. Alas, I have seen in the past Müller retail chain (Europe) having some older (50-100 years) coins from different Issuers sold separately in special plastic boxes. Each such product (specific coin) had a UPC/EAN/GTIN code. In the end some people may start adding these as data and this can quickly get out of hands. There for, maybe only UPC/EAN/GTIN of an original mint set or original mint package could be of some worth…
