The definition of the Libra currency for Catalonia doesn't have a connection between Pugesa, Obolo, Dinero, Ardit, and Seiseno to Libra.

The current definition is:

4 Pugesa = 2 Obolo = 1 Dinero · 6 Dinero = 3 Ardit = 1 Seiseno · 2 Sous = 1 Croat = 1 Real · 15 Sous = 1 Florin · 24 Sous = 1 gold Principado · 20 Sous = 1 Libra · 33 Sous = 1 Trentin

The disconnect could be fixed by adding “12 Dinero = 1 Sous” or “2 Seiseno = 1 Sous” to the definition. Or changing “6 Dinero = 3 Ardit = 1 Seiseno” to “12 Dinero = 6 Ardit = 2 Seiseno = 1 Sous”.

Hello, I am not an expert in this type of medieval currency, but searching the internet a bit and following your criteria, perhaps something like this could be put in place to connect all the monetary units:

20 Sous = 1 Libra · 48 Pugesa = 24 Obolo = 12 Dinero = 6 Ardite = 2 Seiseno = 1 Sou · 2 Sous = 1 Croat = 1 Real??? · 15 Sous = 1 Florin · 24 Sous = 1 Gold Principado · 33 Sous = 1 Trentin

In my internet search I have seen that in wikipedia the Croat is equated with 12 Dineros and 1 Sou, but in Numista we indicate that 2 Sous = 1 Croat (so 1 Croat = 24 Dineros) It may be that I have not looked for the correct monetary unit, perhaps an expert in these currencies can clarify the issue for us.

"The sou was a silver coin that Pere II minted for the first time in 1285. Its value was 12 Dineros. (…) In medieval times, the Croat was also minted in Barcelona, a silver coin that had the legal value of 1 Sou.

“The Croat was a Catalan silver coin created in 1285 by King Peter the Great. (…) On the obverse was the effigy of the Count of Barcelona, and on the reverse the cross from which the coin owes its name. One Croat equaled twelve Dineros.”

Please, Jarku, change the definition, linking all the coins, to:

1 Dinero = 2 Malla = 2 Obolo = 2 Senyal = 4 Pugesa · 1 Sou = 2 Seisenos = 6 Dobler = 6 Ardite = 12 Dineros · 1 Croat = 18 Dineros · 1 Florin = 15 Sous · 1 Principado = 24 Sous · 1 Trentin = 33 Croats · 1 Libra = 1 Pacifico = 20 Sous

Some comments. Above are coins and unit of counts. Libra and Sou are unit of count and never existed as coins, there are exceptions of coins with a value of 1 Libra or 5 Sous.

The relative values of a trimetallic system extended for several centuries are very variable. The above relations are initials or common values. For example, 1 Croat (coin) was from 12 to 36 Dineros (coin and unit of count) or 1 to 3 Sous (unit of count), along the centuries. But a 1 Trentin was 33 Croats or 66 Sous ( 1 Croat of 2 Sous), because was struck a few years, when 1 Croat = 2 Sous.

1 Real can be understood as the Catalan coin Real de plata, Ral, Croat, Blanco, Grueso, Xambergo, and more names. Differents names for the very same coin, but as Croat in Numista. 1 Real is also a coin from Spain, sometimes minted in Barcelona. I remember twice: one by Charles V to pay for the conquest of Tunisia and another by Charles VI for the War of Succession, emperors business. This last issue is in Principality of Catalonia in Numista, I'll move it to Spain.
