Stamp Giveaway, series 2, # 33 [solved]

8 posts • viewed 96 times

Sorry to be so long. Seems the older I get, the more my time goes to all kinds of unexpected activities.

Unesco (Yemen [Kingdom], set and souvenir sheet; Mongolia souvenir sheet; Guinea set; Liberia set and souvenir sheet)

In what year were letter carriers in Dublin, Ireland, instructed to ring the doorbells of addressees?

The first response with the correct year received by 10 AM, October 16, 2022 will be declared the winner. If no response includes the correct year, the response by the deadline with the closest year to (but not later than) the actual year will win. Hypothetically, if the correct year would be 2000 (and no response indicated it)  and 1999 were submitted, 1999 would win but years 2001 and following would be disqualified. My decision as to winner will be final.

Competition is open to all who wish to participate. Good luck!

I'll leave a wild guess: 1850.

1769 is my guess.

Referee for Exonumia from United States

1810

1837

I believe 1810 is the correct answer. Source: https://thecollectorsshopblackrock.wordpress.com/2020/03/31/irish-postal-history-the-dublin-penny-post-1773-1840/

They say "Pecunia non olet", but I know better...

Thank you Coinman48!

The stamps are beautiful! Sorry for my slow response. I have been away. What a pleasant surprise to find them waiting for me!
