Hello all,

I realized that some coins of German States Waldeck and Pyrmont are wrongly referenced with Medaillen, Plaketten, Abzeichen der deutschen Luftfahrt – Numista. (Kaiser)

The right reference should be this auction catalogue: A. RIECHMANN & CO., Auktion 5 vom 5.-6.12.1912, Halle/Saale. (kuenker.de) (Collection of Joseph Kayser).

Can we add it to our reference library?

Hello,

We usually don't add auction catalogues to the list of reference catalogues, unless the auction catalogue is actually used as a reference catalogue (for example the BCD catalogues, e.g. BCD Thessaly I).

Do you know whether the catalogue of the sale of the Kayser collection is used as a reference catalogue?
Do you have some examples?

Hello Xavier, unfortunately there is no standard catalog for Waldeck coins from before 1700. Clain-Stefanelli# 9613 covers only a small part of these coinages. That is why dealers use previously auctioned collections as references (Kayser, Kümmel, Henning, Grönegress). Kayser and Henning are used most frequently.

etc.
Further references are listed here: http://www.waldecker-muenzen.de/5.3.php.
I also noticed that some Waldeck coins from Numista are quoted with the wrong reference (Kaiser instead of Kayser): N#311416. But that is a completely different book.
On the other hand, I welcome the approach of only using standardized reference catalogues. And only allow well-known auction catalogs (such as Bonhoff, Löbbecke, Bahrfeldt, etc.).

Hello,

I added the catalogue with code: Slg. Kayser
