Hi,

from Wikipedia (I know, great source), “Heinrich der Löwe” was the duke of Saxony and Bavaria. On Numista on the other hand, he has coins from more than these two issuers.

Brandenburg has to be a straight-up mistake, but I wanted to talk about the other two.

Regensburg and Brunswick-Lüneburg. As I understand it, Regensburg and Brunswick-Lüneburg were parts of Bavaria and Saxony respectively.

So what I want to know is: Shouldn't these go to the higher-up issuer (Bavaria and Saxony) instead? I believe for the Brunswick-Lüneburg coins, some auction houses actually put them into Saxony.

There also isn't that much going on on these coins. So there aren't just titles of Regensburg or Brunswick-Lüneburg.

How are the rules regarding such instances?

The Duchy Brunswick-Lüneburg didn't exist until 1235. In the 1170s Heinrich der Löwe and Friedrich Barbarossa got in serious strive which resulted in Heinrich getting an Imperial ban in 1180 and his Saxon territories got split up going to many different parties.

Otto the child was enfeoffed with the Duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg at the Mainz Court Day of 1235.

But maybe the references put them under the to be Duchy for some reason.

The HRE history is messy and difficult with all the splits and aggregations anyway.

Its cleaned :-)

(just issuer for now, I have in my backlog to review all german states entries more thoroughly)

Old imperial and ducal mints are currently in process of dissolution FYI
