St. Therese of Lisieux

Hi gang,

I recently added this token: N#340876

I'm puzzled about the text at the bottom of the reverse though.  It looks like a reference but all my searches lead to Revelations from the Bible.  It was also difficult to pin-point a credible reference for the quote.  It seems to be very widely attributed to the saint, but I couldn't peg it down to anything solid.

Anyone have any information?

I tried to research it myself but could not pin down a specific letter or reference for this quote from her to a specific person either. Based on what I learned from researching her, she was a beautiful person who had a gift for beautiful writing and wise beyond her years who wrote letters constantly. A quote I  found attributed to her was phrased a little differently : “I am your sister and your friend, never will I cease watching over you”. It certainly sounds like something she would write whether refering to her fellow faithful in the convent (sisters), church, family, or loved one. It would be very interesting to discover the actual writings that captures it and to who she was refering to if any. She was prolific, so lots of reading and researching to do.

Bonjour,

C'est issu d'un texte écrit par Thérèse de Lisieux (avant qu'elle ne soit béatifiée et canonisée),

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Th%C3%A9r%C3%A8se_of_Lisieux

your sister, your friend, I shall always be watching over you.

It comes from a text written by Thérèse of Lisieux (before she was beatified and canonized), https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Th%C3%A9r%C3%A8se_of_Lisieux

Entitled in French “Pious recreation”, here “The mission of Joan of Arc” corresponding to a scene where Saint Catherine appears to Joan of Arc and sings to her (in French): “Je suis ta soeur et ton amie Toujours je veillerai sur toi” = I am your sister, your friend, I shall always be watching over you. https://www.archives-carmel-lisieux.fr/carmel/index.php/rp-1/606-rp1-12v
