Colnect is, Numista must be.

Quote: CeruleanThat's not how Wikipedia works. Wikipedia is not like Numisdoc.Ha!
Quote: SmartOneKgIt's not like Numisdoc, but basically you have to check it over yourself for a whole list of things, and it wouldn't allow me to write the article because it would be advertising or unencyclopedistic or something like that.Quote: CeruleanThat's not how Wikipedia works. Quote: kommodoreWeird..BMW and AUDI and all of that aren't advertising?True, it is strange. Anyhow, Numista rules anyway (with or without a Wikipedia page)!
Quote: Ceruleanyes, why don't you try it?Quote: dptashnyI submitted the article and Wikipedia wouldn't publish it.That's not how Wikipedia works. Wikipedia is not like Numisdoc.
Quote: "SquareRootLolly"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NumistaYour work?
Quote: "SquareRootLolly"See my above post.
Can somebody give me third party articles that talk about Numista?
Quote: "SquareRootLolly"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numistaremoved already?
Quote: "AmerSalmeh"Unfortunately, yes. We need to have some sources of notability, like being the largest coin catalogue on the internet. We need third-party views.

Quote: "Jarcek"Well, they have slightly more coins, and we have a lot more tokens. Counted together, they are 1000 ahead. Still, we have a lot more older coins in the catalogue, and they list much more modern commemoratives. I guess it is easier for them, when they disregard copyright.Ah, counting tokens, that explains the difference.

I guess it is easier for them, when they disregard copyright.Colnect is a bit more loose than Numista with adding new pages for variants, so this adds quite a lot to the total of coins. I also know that there this one guy on Colnect that went through the whole SCWC and added all the listings that were missing from all countries, copying pictures and all the different variants without cross checking with other catalogues.
Quote: "Jarcek"They list a lot of exonumia alongside normal coins also. Can confirm, I've often had to sort through the junk there.
Quote: "Jarcek"100 Vietnam pages will surely help. Will try my best!
I did not know how colnect does varieties, I never looked there on how they list coins.

Quote: "Southern"Doesn't seem like Numista article (at least on en.wikipedia.org) has been created yet, I will create one if by the time I get back from work it's not thereplease refer to the comments above first ..
Quote: "AmerSalmeh"Maybe it'll be 3rd time lucky?

Quote: "CassTaylor"No luck needed, just need to know the rules. However, deletion of the article is unfortunate, it will make the job harder. People who patrol new articles on Wikipedia might not know much about the topic of Numismatics, so they do a simple internet search to see if any reliable sources wrote about the subject before, or whether the subject is widely known. It's necessary because every day thousands of websites created and people do try to get popularity and credibility by creating an article on Wikipedia for their resource. In order to avoid deletion even fake buzz is created on the web in order to satisfy the '3rd party verifiable' rule, that's why sources must be reliable.

Quote: "Southern"... since really, seems like there is not much serious coverage of 'numista.com' on the internet.Someone who is with an unknown coin for him in hand will seek to identify him on the web
Quote: "CassTaylor"@Southern I hope you're right... I would love to see a Numista WIkipedia page myself. It's there already, feel free to add additional info. The page itself has been approved by reviewer (aka wikipedia moderator), so hopefully won't be nominated on deletion anymore.
Quote: "CassTaylor"Gotcha! And it's already being nominated for deletion, see:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numista
Quote: "Jarcek"I dont know how to do it myself.Me neither unfortunately
Quote: "Trung Quoc Don"This is what I mentioned earlier. Now reviewer who deleted the article earlier, trying to prove that he was 'correct'. At least now it's not a quick deletion and up for discussion. Whether to delete an article or not will be decided based on people's thoughts does article is 'important' enough to stay.

Quote: "pcarey2003"Here also, but I have no idea what this page saysAnd here (link with Indian Railways mascot - the link at the bottom of the page (External links)refers to a Numista page)our pictures have been used and referenced:

Quote: "AmerSalmeh"and it's deleted, againDon't worry, it'll be back up in the future. I'll work on it when I'll have the time to look for more sources.

Quote: "ngdawa"i think we all need to start our own blog, where we time to time mention and refernce to numistaIf only I had the energy....
if anyone here is writing numismatic blogs, just mention numista as the best way to identify, and store, your collection, or easiest catalogue to use online etc..
Quote: "Parikhit"https://en.everybodywiki.com/Numista this is an articleIt seems to have alot of copy-paste from the Colnect article on Wikipedia. Especialcially when you come to "See also" where Numista has one(!!) of the seven features listed.
Quote: "ngdawa"=1emand why Numista should be prefered over Colnect.Agreed with the rest of your post, but this might be a little bit too on the nose, imagine if Apple's Wikipedia page had a section about why they're better than Samsung!
Quote: "CassTaylor"Hehe, I didn't mean it like "Numista is the best, Colnect sucks!". More that the article really emphasise the good strong features of Numista, like the detailed catalogue, the amount of varieties listed, user friendly catalogues, that the catalogues' are updated and edited daily, etc.

Quote: "ngdawa"It is a little rough, ad will need some work, but here's how far I've come so far (I found an aricle on an equivalent website to Wikipedia so I used that article as a basis for this one).Looks pretty good to me!
Quote: "CassTaylor"Looks pretty good to me!Cheers!
Could you link the article you based this one off?
Quote: "CassTaylor"Also kudos for finally cropping your profile picture coin!hahah!
