The Tunisian rial had a rather complex set of subunits. We have the following
12 Qafsi / Burben / Bourbine = 2 Fals / Burbe / Bourbe = 1 Nasri / Asper • 52 Nasri / Asper = 16 Kharub / Caroub = 1 Rial / Piastre / Rial Sebili
Looking at SCWC , we have
The table at the bottom matches what we have (with 3¼ Nasri = 1 Kharub) but the list at the top gives 13 Burbe (Fals) = 1 Kharub, which would imply 6½ Nasri = 1 Kharub. Which is correct?
Looking at the coins, we have this piece, which is a 13 Nasri coin overstamped with the denomination 2 Kharub and this piece, a 6½ Nasri overstamped with 1 Kharub. Unless this overstamping halved the coins' values, that would confirm that 6½ Nasri = 1 Kharub. Does anyone have some independent verification of one or other of SCWC's versions? If not, can I suggest we adopt the following, based on the evidence from the overstamped coins?
12 Qafsi / Burben / Bourbine = 2 Fals / Burbe / Bourbe = 1 Nasri / Asper • 104 Nasri / Asper = 16 Kharub / Caroub = 1 Rial / Piastre / Rial Sebili
