Apart from bam 777 who is allowed to be quiet for now what's happened to you all ? Keyboards must be broken ? Lol
the forum has pulses, sometimes its very quiet.  Too bad all the 1000 good swappers (or however many) don't use the forum, then we could have some fun.
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

Looking for pre 1783 coins
I have noticed there are active good swappers who don't post :(
Im still alive  :O

I think everyone had more time over the summer and as school and work started to ramp up again there was less time available

Trying to get a coin from each UN country with circulating coins. 20 to go!
just not feeling like posting etc.. eh ?
I'm certainly alive (MPCC)!!!!
I know you are dan - it's got a little boring on here recently, like obviously I understand that people have commitments but still.. considering there's loads of English-speaking members, there isn't a lot of activity this week :(

Yes, I must agree with you. It is very unfortunate that people join Numista and don't stay. Death to ghost accounts!  X-D Did you know that about 15% of Numista is active on the English side?
Indeed it's been quiet here lately... I'm a new member but haven't really posted much as my collection is tiny and have been trying to do swaps and sniping on the 'Bay...
Btw I was on CCF (another coin forum) and realized some members there use Numista for keeping track of their coins. Hence it's no surprise at the number of "inactive" members here...
I'm back. I had a super honeymoon and will be posting a new topic on coin shopping in Morocco very soon!
Glad it was nice but I wouldn't have thought coin hunts would have been very easy ? Lol
I've noticed this also - it just seems very hard to get a swap also the past three months. i used to get them all the time now it's like everyone's spread all the coins so thin only rare ones is what everyone seeks. it just seems like every person on here has every single circulated coin from every country. that's mostly what i collect is decent-shaped circulated coinage, but now everyone wants shiny commemoratives. there also seems to be less interesting topics in the forums - maybe that's why? {everyone has thought of all the good questions already} and discussed them. i haven't seen any really good topics in a while. no disrespect to all who view this, it just seems like everyone has it all and everyone knows it all now. before it seemed more intriguing and people were more willing to swap and topics were very informative to others. lately all you see is a bunch of nonsense in discussions most of the time. i don't know if my collection is just getting too large or if just everyone already took all my good stuff. but i love to swap with people and there's no better feeling than getting that package in the mail and tearing into it - maybe you could say i'm an addict. i think i've swappped for coins i didn't need and already had plenty times, just to help another's collection and was still just as excited when i received the package. but not many people do that i can tell. it's either there's not enough to offer or "you only want one of my coins" but i don't mind a 1 for 1 deal that's alright with me. well i'm done bickering for now - maybe it will put some life back into the forums.

You can swap with me if you want. I don't have all the "normal" coins yet, not even close.
my problem is i have some good coins in my swap list and everyone chooses the best ones and all thye have to swap in return is pocket change :( every swap recently apart from dptashny i have turned down !

on another note all you lot who have proven youre here get your arses into the MPCC competition should be good fun you can enter 5 coins im sure we all have 5 good looking coins ? doesnt matter about the rarity either :)
Quote: Mark240590... doesnt matter about the rarity either :)
Ah, true.  ;) That is the beauty of it.
I am still here but currently inactive because of health issues, not because of any lack of interest.
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.
Make Numismatics Great Again!
i forgot to exempt you too i thought this would be the reason  :)
What is MPCC competition? I would like to try and enter even if my chances are slim. Tell me where is the link.?

We must lobby fr this, we need to hide all these coins available for swap that are not actually there.  I have written literally hundreds of people, who ARE NOT THERE.

just look at the US 1964 .50 Kennedy try swapping with any of the people who have that coin, only 1% will respond.

I have to! Its so annoying, right???

Really? Aside from a couple of aged British coins, a few reserved for HARRY, I find the rest either boring or common. Did I miss all the good coins? :snif: To each his/her own. I'm surprised that some of my pocket change gets selected in trades. I'm happy to help fill someones collection in a fair swap, regardless of where their interests lie.
All have gone recently, I have barely anything in my swap list now exept the stuff I've purposely left out. I've also sold loads.
Ok, just don't forget, that for some members, factoring in the corellation between incomes and currency values means, that a US Parks quarter costs the equivalent of £3 - £5 for you. That would make it a little more than pocket change. I believe Numista operates on an international level and therefore, some consideration should be shown for the collections of other members.
i dont need to be lectured on what things are im fully aware. its like me listing 1000 1 pennies and the same for 2,5,10 and 20's not much value atall,if i swap for things on here i swap for better coins harder to get is what i mean no common pocket change i also dont collect american coins, maybe some of the more interesting canadian stuff, i had 23 olympic series 50 pence pieces for swap a week or so ago which are worth more than face value i know.
Quote: Mark240590if i swap for things on here i swap for better coins harder to get is what i mean no common pocket change
I, on the other hand, will add duplicates of common Canadian coins from someones list, just to help them out and make a trade happen. For the most part, I do not collect Canadian coins, but, I can always use them in my other trades (not just on Numista). It's not all about getting better coins, when I put up something for trade, it's meant to go to a better home, where it will be more appreciated than with me. I also don't plan on referring to anyone's duplicates as common pocket change, I'd rather decline a trade based on other reasons. Conveying a simple lack of interest in the listed coins through a PM will do.
I'm busy at work at the moment, I pop on here now and again when I can though.
when i say better coins i mean some that im interested in but i would also rather swap 10 of my coins for one better coin or a particular coin im struggling to find. i never say pocket change other than that recent statement i do reply saying they have nothing to interest me, but im not going to swap for coins im not interested in sorta defeats the object of it in my own opinion. I am yet to find someone who has selected my common coins listed just to help me out, so for instance when someone messages me with a swap and they have listed a few including my wiliam III shilling and island of sumatra keping, $26 in value those 2 alone.. and when i check their lists all they have is Pocket change from where they are from and nothing that interests me.
Hi Mark240590,

Where have you gone ?
I send you some mail about our first swap, but still no answer ?
sorry man i've been ill and running around after my grandparents and helping my mother get them to their hospital appointments as my mam doesn't drive :(  i will get back to you tomorrow :)
No problem man ! Hope everything is well ? Helping each other and good health is more important than a few world coins.   z)
In case you were wondering;  No I haven't quit the forum already  :P ....  Just started my new job after being unemployed since summer. My time allotment for online coin stuff has been cut back drastically, so now I split my free time on alternate days between Numista, CCF (that other coin forum), and bargain hunting for coins on Ebay.... Mostly Ebay.. 8)

I've got a long list of open swaps remaining that I haven't heard much from... Except for Mark  :°  It doesn't seem like anyone is motivated to do any swapping lately.  When I first joined Numista there were plenty of offers for my better coins, but as was mentioned a couple of times already,  I too am having trouble finding others (from the U.S.) willing to swap common's for common's..  :(
So many coins... So little time...

Hmmm was that a reference to me ??  z| ... Let me know and I'll take my good coins out from hiding and place them back on the exchange list for ya !!! :D

How do I know how many Harry's Mark knows? What's left of his good coins seems to be reserved for a guy named Harry, is that you? From where I'm sitting, there are at least 213 of you. ;)

Well if it is me then I feel honored to have such a large share of good coin holding's in Mark's collection.  :D
