Wladimir C. Hegel was born on 13 April 1838 in Warsaw, the Russian Empire, and died in 1918 in Bucharest, Romania. He was a French sculptor and engraver of Polish-German descent and studied in Paris at the École des Beaux Arts. He was a professor of sculpture at the School of Fine Arts in Bucharest, and he taught Constantin Brâncuși and Dimitrie Paciurea.
