If it's just a weak strike I wouldn't consider that a variant but a kind of error. Or is it a weak transfer to a working die?

Also the word print sounds a bit off in the context of coin minting.

Using the picture currently on the coin page, I think this illustrates that it's not a matter of weak vs. strong strike.  Looks like a true variant to me.

I also have a problem with those varieties, but I invented the words “strong” and “weak” strike for the two different coins, since I didn't know how to express it in any other understandable way.. Both varieties exist in plenty and it was adanieluy (the refereee for Cuba), who asked me to make the documentation. I have changed into strike (not print!).

 

 

Since they exist in many copies, I would lean to call them real varieties, special if they are considered like that for Cuban collectors. You might have noticed Numista is opening up to all kind of requests, like the color of coin cards for the same coin (Australia, f.ex.). Live and let live is the thing, right?
