So I inherited a ton of coins

SO over the years Ive inherited a TON of coins.

I only bought bullion.

All my other coins are from inheritances, several, as I mention my families were coin-o-files.

I only like say 20 coins out of the 9,000, I got a real small collection.

I still got box's to go through.

SO what I have been doing is disseminating them among friends. Numista is wonderful as I knew this community of folks like/love's coins. I have real friends on here.

I tried other sites, ebay etc, and found no connection with the buyer. Not like that here, and I can save them the %20 up charge the other places take.

I want the coins to go to folks that would appreciate them. Like selling ZackUK all those crowns. who better to own them.

Please just write me, as my external email is available.

You inherited 9000 coins! wow, that's cool.

Did you like coins before that or is that what sparked your interest?

My Grandfather left me a few coins. not a lot, but it is cool to have.

Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

Lordy, not all at once. Mostly by attrition, great GranDad, GranDad, Dad, Uncles, etc, most of their children (cousins) had no interest, so I bought them out (complicated- with land), so sort of a mix. but all from family. except the .999 stuff.

It has taken over 20 years, but the last member that had coins died, good ole Uncle Joe.

He has stuff in these Eagle Rare(bourbon, whisky) wood box's, so much to dig through. will take forever. but so fun. I love to get a handful here and there and research them. Having a blast with the smaller dark ones at the bottom. notgeld, dark zinc, etc.

*I got large 50 Lb bags full of undocumented, US copper penny's not copper coated zinc, copper, pre 1981 or 82. not searched at all, just took a sample of a few hand fulls.

*I got large bags full of Mexico, unsearched

*I got large bags full of Israel, unsearched

*I got large bags full of Philippines, unsearched

*I got small bags full of Spain, unsearched

*I got small bags full of France, unsearched

*I got small bags full of Italy, unsearched

ya know all the big countries

My first one was a Mercury Dime Collection. I never drew ant interest until 6 years ago when I became disabled. Then I started really figuring it out. Great for someone stuck at home.

Sounds like a heaven on Earth for coin collectors. 50 lb bags… So many foreign ones, unsearched… Just a dream came true!

Yes, I had a fella tell me once there is nothing better than being wrists deep in coins.

-now truly, a lot of them are junk, holed, bent, etc.

--waaay too many tokens

some recent finds I thought were cool.

Okay there is some pretty amazing stuff there, lots of silver and classics.

I think you could take these to a good dealer. That Trade dollar looks nice along with the big crowns. And the Liberian cent is very interesting too.

Lucky you!  Your family had taste and its obvious at least some of them must have been proper collectors.

I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Thank you sir. I am having the hardest time deciding what to keep in my collection. I like so many of these.

Uncle Joe was the one with taste. He was exactly like the Uncle in “Ghost of Girlfriends Past” even looked alike. Always had the best life had to offer. He had over 35 of these tokens N#184895

I can imagine he was handing them out at bars, lol

This one is my Favorite so far.

here are others of notable mention

I like these two below alot…

If you ever plan a vacation to Thailand, it might be nice to help you find a home for some of the stuff you don't want as it would be way too much to mail.

1 ton = 1 000 kilos = 1 000 000 grams

1 average coin weighs in at 4 grams, so 1 ton of coins = 250 000 individual coins

🙃 not bad

Have fun

Oh I have one of those Drei Marks.  They are very cool indeed!

hi mike!

i've ended up doing the same thing you are, only i came into my inheritance a bit different than you… my father passed away a couple years ago leaving me with what i thought was about 10k individual coins. i've since figured out it was more than double that! i've had some interest in coins, but only in particular ones… so the learning curve for me has been steep… and not in my wheelhouse. everyone on this site has been amazing! you have amazing coins, and great photos! good luck to you, and i wanted to say i'm so sorry for your loss… i know for me every time i handle my dad's coins i feel a bit closer to him knowing he once held them and admired them, and looked them up… and talked with someone about them!

I don’t understand why you’re having trouble deciding what to keep. Seems obvious.
