The Norse–Gaels also known as Hiberno-Scandinavian (Old Irish: Gall-Goídil; Irish: Gall-Ghaeil; Scottish Gaelic: Gall-Ghàidheil, 'foreigner-Gaels') were a people of mixed Gaelic and Norse ancestry and culture. They emerged in the Viking Age, when Vikings who settled in Ireland and in Scotland adopted Gaelic culture and intermarried with Gaels. The Norse–Gaels dominated much of the Irish Sea and Scottish Sea regions from the 9th to 12th centuries. They founded the Kingdom of the Isles which included the coveted Isle of Man, the Hebrides, the Kingdom of Dublin, the Lordship of Galloway (which is named after them), and a Norse-Gaelic family briefly (939–944 AD) ruled the Kingdom of York. The most powerful Norse–Gaelic dynasty were the Uí Ímair or House of Ivar.
There was a large amount of coins minted that circulated in both (Now) England and Ireland. And so, the numista catalogue is separated as half of the coinage is under Ireland while the other is under Ireland. I submitted a number of coins that were heavily circulated in Ireland, but what do I find, it's rejected qs the coin was also under Britain.
So, I propose that the coins either be moved to one country. Which I think should be Ireland as there are more of the coins in the Irish catalogue*, or we create a subsection for Norse-Gael coins.**
If you need any information more information on the Norse-Gaels I can provide it.
*If it does come to this I volunteer to do the job of changing the countrys.
**I could also do this job if needed.
