Here's a good place to start:

Topic moved to "Numista coin catalogue" (ZacUK, 20 Jun 2022, 17:00)

Standard list of abbreviations for use on Numista:

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/contributions/abbreviations.php

AU (About Uncirculated) is defined on the page.

BU (brilliant uncirculated) is on the list of abbreviations that shouldn't be used, but it is explained on that page.

MS ("mint state") isn't on that page so it shouldn't be used.

BU is used almost a thousand times in spite of being on the “do not use” list.

MS isn't used as often, and many cases are in personal names ("coin recorders Ms. Monica P. Galera and …").

(I don't see anything in the guidelines on the use of personal titles like Mr. or Ms. But they should probably be explained in the abbreviations list for non-English speakers.)

I see you are in the United States.

These are the commonly used grade levels for condition of coins used by United States collectors and the third party grading companies such as NGC and PCGS.
