Hello everyone! Recently I bought a box of world coins from a flea market. Most of the coins are french, so I assume that it might be french too, accordind to the bust. I have searched for it in many catalogs and forums, but nothing. It has a diameter of 29 mm, a weight of 10.52 g and it is made out of copper. Also, I think that it says something with ”-vs” but I am not sure.

I will have a look. I cropped the images >

Token collector [1600-1899] with some coins

Hi! Dear colleagues,do you think the preservation  quality of the shown coin is worth the hard work to do?!? Even a rarissime coin should have been? Sorry, for me such coins are worthless!

It used to be a coin, just a piece of metal now.

If it's French the first hit on THIS query is the only that comes close.

Indead, bbybugs, that's what I also ment to say with much more words than you…

But not as worthless as some of the comments in this post.

My friend,rsirian1,would you buy such a quality coin & put it in your collection?!? If so,for what amount of cash??? Perhaps we can make a deal: I have (to sell) silver coins of better quality than this…

I, for one, would be thrilled to add a positively identified early 18th century coin to my collection regardless of condition.  For many collectors it's not all about the money.  It's also about the history.  To hold in my hands a coin that most probably at one time was used by a French commoner 3 hundred years ago to buy a loaf of bread is exciting to me.

At least it's not a fake.  I'll pass on your offer.

The top of the hair [in green as shown below] is the same shape as on this coin >

so is probably a Louis XV portrait.

But - might not be that coin as it has a smaller portrait than on yours.

Hi again,rsirian1! Ok. then,my friend,I didn't know! If that excites you…me not! I preffer to have good looking coins in my collection,as nice as I can find & get… But you are free to collect what ever you like, perhaps only hardly worn coins (as they surrely passed through the hands of much more ''commoners''!)

My offer to sell to you worn coins was only for testing you.

Each person is a free human being and thus allowed to collect coins as he sees fit, let people collect what they want with any irritating comments from"I know better" individuals, please!

That's very correct,Sjoelund, and I also said the same: everyone is free to collect what ever he/she wants!!! Surely! Plus,I had no intension to ''irritate'' someone… I only wanted to share that I like the oposite: good looking coins. So sorry if my words received such an interpretation! Please receive my appologies!

I do not mind with a coin is very worn if I do not have. Better a worn coin than nothing.

Also, I am not rich to afford XF old coins, so sometimes even an identified scrap of metal is a treasure for me.

Maria Theresia coin. Are you sure that  is 29mm?
