I am having a real hard time tracking down this coin in Numista.

Obv: SIGIS III D G REX POL M D L R P                                                  Rev: MONETA CIVIT GEDANENSIS

Weight: 6.93 g.
Diameter: 29 mm.

Is this a coin that has not been added yet?

Best Regards

Casper

I find under free city of gdansk-km15.1 on another site.

Maybe can help you

Sorry km15.2

Yeah this is really close also Gdansk

N#126833

Actually, check in the comments section of that coin.

Thanks Alexius, I have also found it on other sites, but not here in Numista.  I will add it as a new coin.

Thanks Slipstreamed, it is indeed similar, but different sizes and the date is presented differently.

It is this one:  N#170610

Poland is a little tricky. Before 1572 it is “Poland, Kingdom of.”  From 1572-1795 it is “Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.”

Nice coin! As you can see, the Gdansk mint was making well-designed and well-struck coins that retain good details even with varying states of wear.

So what's the deal with the “1” and “6” then?  Also the “2” and “3”.

The coin is surelly from the city of GDANKS under Polish rule, king Sigismund III Wasa.

And,with the figures it's very simple: IT IS THE YEAR 1623 WHEN THE COIN WAS STRUCK! 👍🤗

As denomination the coin is an ORT = ¼ OF A THALER,silver. Your coin could be graded VG or even Fine (with a catalogue value of 15usd to 30 usd)

Your exact coin appears in World Coins Catalogue, minted from 1623 and other years. So,sorry, but it isn't an unknown new coin…

Hah, how very obvious.  Embarrassing I didn't think of that!
