Euro 50 rare?

9 posts • viewed 1589 times

Hello,

I came across this banknote country code Z(Belgium) T007 and looking at this site http://billetstribune.canalblog.com/archives/050_euro_2002_jean_claude_trichet/index.html it isn't clear to me if it is the rare one:

 800 T007(Z3) Z*41 à Z*80

Thanks in advance for any hint.

Rare because it's 2002 and you don't see many. I was lucky and got one from the ATM only mine is from Italy (S)

American collector living the life in Germany

One could even say it's unique.

Yes,but the last 2 digits of the serial Number are in the range 41 to 80 and the printing code is T007 , according to this link http://billetstribune.canalblog.com/archives/2013/06/18/27458217.html the banknote value should be 800 € instead of 80 €

 800 T007(Z3) Z*41 à Z*80

Thanks for your answers

According to EuroBillTracker, 3.66M T printed 50 Euro notes with Z (for Belgium) were reported (see above image of their table or use the link). This is a lot more common than the 10 or 20 denominations (the 100 Euro & higher are much scarcer).

After reading the comments,  responses and linked websites, I must admit that I am still puzzled about what makes certain euro notes more rare - for the one in this post, I get it thanks to the written comments but I would not be able to see it myself in the tables or sites provided.

A quick search for ‘banknotes rarity’ and ‘rare euro banknotes’ in the Forum provided no clear results while in DuckDuckGo it led me to  a basic article about rare euro notes

People writing on the blogs at EuroBillTracker seem as confused as I, so, could anyone provide a link to a place (preferably in English) where these tables or similar are easily explained?

Thanx

I agree that it can be confusing & I regret the fact that many social media sites/articles (like the MIRROR which you link) tend to sensationalize & make outrageous claims of notes being RARE such as

Today, there are 5 euro bills being sold on eBay for more than €1,000 while one current sale reached €6,500 in bids.” showing a well circulated 5 Euro note with 3 fives in the serial number! The only statement that made sense was, “For instance, notes with printer code H (De La Rue printer in the UK) would be sought after as they are rare,” but it would be more prudent to claim “uncommon” rather than "rare." See this Notable Terms link from my Notaphylic Culture site for a better explanation.

If a Euro note has a foreign printer code (a different nation printed it) than it tends to be much scarcer than a printer code that matches the nation's prefix.  So while Finnish Euros tend to be highly sought after, if the note has a printer code from another nation, it would be even tougher to find (& uncommon).   The table I inserted above unfortunately is missing the top row which shows the denomination. It should read:

5 Euro; 10 Euro; 20 Euro & 50 Euro (from left to right) above the 3 of notes reported with the T printer's code & Z prefix.  The fourth column is where I found that 3,662,721 50 Euro notes with the Z prefix (& T printer code) were reported on EuroBillTracker. Your note could be uncommon (after all it is the # saved that counts) but I highly doubt it would be rare & highly valued in that condition.

Hope that helps!

(BTW: I also apologize for excluding the link where the printer codes & # of notes reported is published. I've just added it now).

I asked about the note above in another forum www.lamoneta.it and this was the reply:

(T007)

Z3N1NNNNNNNN 80€

Z3N2NNNNNNNN 500€

Z3N8NNNNNNNN

(Z32858446878) →My banknote,no value given.

I use this one: https://enotesprice.com/en/quotation?note=50zt007d2¬e-value=50ZT007D2+%2850%E2%82%AC+2002+Z+T+007+D2+Trichet%29¬e-id=793950¬e-serie=2002¬e-signatory=Trichet

If it is not Z3N2NNNNNNNN, and in this condition  is worth 50€.

As you can see, there are 3 lines:

Z3N1

Z3N2

and one without symbols, which means all the rest from that type.
