Hard Times Tokens

I would like to see “Hard Times Tokens” be it's own separate category on the Exonumia page.

Hard Times Tokens were political and advertising coins minted between 1832 and 1844, and they circulated readily in everyday commerce. After the “Panic of 1837,” federal coins were hoarded away, and these privately mint coins served as an unofficial currency. Consequently, these coins are more notgeld (emergency currency) than Unclassified exonumia: Miscellaneous token. There are over 500 tokens in this series, and they are mostly copper pieces the same size as the US large cent.

I think these tokens should also be named according to how they historically have been cataloged – either by Rulau's HT number or the Low number. For example, this coin would be named HT-34, Illustrious Predecessor.

Edit:  Some of these, such as this one, are listed as a “Business Token”. There is no consistency with this series.

Hard Times Tokens should be under ‘Coins’ - as should the Civil War Tokens.

Aidan.

I agree that USA Hard Times Tokens should have their own category. Some of them do not have Low numbers, so Rulau's Hard Times number such as (HT-70) is how I identify them when adding new tokens to Numista.  To see them in order on Numista, I use “display options” and order by “reference”.  Then, you see them in order by HT number.   As of today, it starts with HT-5.

I notice, after entering “exonumia” and “Hard Times Token” a series of 2019 “Winter Universiade” sports tokens pops up, so I have to limit it to “United States”.

Also, oddly, some are missing when the pleural “Hard Times Tokens” is used in the search rather than the singular “Hard Times Token”. Today there are 124 with a Tokens search and 161 with Token.  So, I alway use the singular when looking at them.
