Coin with '3' on the reverse - very worn [solved]

Hi All,

I've got antother finding from mixed bulk lot, which gives me headache to identify. I know in that condition it's worthless but I just feel the need of identification of every single coin I put my hands on. As the coin is very worn I struggled to take a good picture, but maybe someone saw something likee this and can advise. Coin has silver color with very dark black stain. Kitchen scale shows weight 5g and diameter is 23/24mm.

I'm not 100% it's three on the reverse, possibly it can be 5 under different angle. But if it's 5 the the obverse is rotatet 90 degrees, which I find weird. There are also kind of palm leaves near the base of 3.

On the obverse there's man's head facing left. The lettering I could decipher is only ‘IV’ around his nose area. Then near the chin it's either C or E and the next one is U or D. I thought it may be ‘GEORGIVS’ but couldn't find a match.

I've checked all coins with filter setting for diameter and weight but no success again.

Can anyone recognise it maybe?

The obverse (your second picture) has that IV near the nose, and my

guess before it is EO then G so making the rest of the letters GEORGIVS maybe.

Can not see a single thing (apart from circle) on the reverse - no numbers or lettering.

N#8798 perhaps?

Hmmm, nah if that's the chin, it's much too close to the lettering.

The silver/black colour may make it a silver coin - then there are three coins ⌀ 23.5 mm that

have a circle on the reverse, with lettering in the correct place on the obverse -

combined with a slightly heavier 5.66g weight …

Just now also looked at lettering top right of the portrait, and it does look

like the BRITT on those three coins. Green - probably / Yellow - maybe.

I rotated the reverse around then saw what may be an H letter -

so I kept that orientation plus added the lettering …

First of all, thank you for such a prompt reply.

Because of state of the coin it's very hard to take a good picture and I'm on my way to work while coin is at home, but I' marked down what I can see under different angles:

Yellow - the most visible, number 3

Blue - another possiblity, number 5. Over the blue line on the left there is something possibly written but it's so worn I'm not sure if they are actual letters. I thought maybe it says ‘pfen’ but couldn't find anything in database either.

Puprle - something that looks like palm leaf to me.

I can take more pictures once I'm back home. I thought it will be easier to identify despite the state.

I've seen all of the coins you've posted but it doesn't look like it's any of them.

The supposed three looks like a crease to me. Plus a denomination of Pfennig would

not match with GEORGIVS lettering, as different countries. I made this for the reverse …

Even more so I am convinced it is one of those three (UK) coins - with you being in UK. 😖

I think you're right! I've got tunnel vision on that number three and totally ignored the rest.

And good spot with that ‘H’ letter, very impressive.

Thank you all for help again!

You're welcome.  It was certainly all my own hard work that led to this conclusion. 😆
