Hi everybody,

I have a question regarding the 5 Diram coin from Tajikistan with the Numista number 37461 (https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces37461.html).

The coin with the date 2015 looks very different because of the new lettering (just look at the "5"). Shouldn't the coin with the date 2015 therefore be a new type with its own Numista-number?
It took me quite a while to see any difference so at most a new sub type but we are not Krause.

Edit: I looked at the lower pictures x. still I wouldn't call this a new type but maybe in the future a reference catalog will do that.
Here are the 2 pictures. In my opinion, these pictures show different coin types, because the "5" looks completely different.

Regardless of the need to split the page, why is the 2015 line listed as "KM#23a"? According to numismaster, KM#23a does not exist. Why are we inventing new reference numbers!?

The reverses of the 10, 20 and 50 diram in 2015 are also distinct. We have nice pictures to show this but we should be putting the 2015 coins in their own pages.

I see the "a" for 2015 types several places on the Internet. I also have it in my notes and I don't think it came from Numista but I'm not positive. I wonder who originated it.

I hope the edited version of the page specifies that 2011 is KM# 23 and 2015 and 2017 don't have KM numbers.

And the 2017 in additional pages. They have the new font on the obverse and the old font on the reverse.

Sent request to referee to have a look at this.

I believe there were talks about this when the 2015 series appeared. But not before long the main pictures of the pages got changed to the new type, and no one seemed to mind.

Personally I would like to distinguish the 2015 type from the other, since it varies pretty much from the 2011 and 2017. I don't know why 2015 differs in design. Maybe the National Bank of Tajikistan changed the design, but it was so unpopular by the people so they changed in back?

If people approve of a separation of the 2015 series, I will make this happen.

Thank you Jarek for bringing this to my attention!
