USA: 1 Dollar Gobrecht, what to document?

7 posts • viewed 84 times
We have a problem with the documentation of the 8 variants cof this rather special dollar, minted in very small numbers.

The variants according to the USACoinBook:

I've tried to set up the first one as a test example:

Here is the coin from SCWC with 6 variants and "all other combinations" are restrikes from the 1850's. :

And here is what Numista has today:

The easiest would be to leave the structure as in SCWC (and Numista) and do the 6 corresponding graphics! And forget about the1850 restrikes (forgeries)?

Of course this small problem will not concern many numista members, but we would still like to make the documentations for present or future owners of any of these coins.

So please leave your opinions to this theme, 8 or 6 graphics?

Thanks in advance

Found one more typo. On the #1 and #2 graphic the second box on the left should be "UM: Eagle flying up (medal alignment)"

Other than that looks good. It takes a lot of studying to understand it but you did a great job summarizing it all.
