Metal Detecting by lake

Hello,
I was metal detecting by a lake a while back with a dear friend.
Anyone got an idea what this is?
I think a latch to a gate? I hope to a chest I've yet to find.

stats:
300 grams
13.5 cm long
5cm wide
holes are 17mm diameter
Iron for sure, magnet sticks well.

It looks like a fitting for furniture, suitcase, box or anything else.

Ya thats cool. I put tags on some items I find, with location,circumstances etc... Its great when you can look back and remember the times.
