Hello,
It is my deep regret to inform that Stratocaster decided to quit his role as admin and referee of the catalogue. During the almost 2 years he was a catalogue admin, Stratocaster did an amazing work to bring the catalogue to the highest quality standards.
Some of his contributions include a full rework of the catalogue edition guidelines, participation to the reorganization of issuers (for notgeld, etc.), considerable development of the Roman Empire coin catalogue partly based on OCRE, the reference catalogue bibliography, banknote signatures, and much more.
Thank you Stratocaster for all what you did for Numista!
It's not good news for Numista that Strato is no longer Administrator or Referee, his work for this website has been impressive.

I know that on some issues we were not on the same line, but that is part of a Community of users as large and plural as ours.

My most sincere congratulations for the work done and I hope that the person or persons who replace him can do only half as well as he has done.
Coin referee for: Andorra, Equatorial Guinea, Marshall Islands, Moldova, Liberia and Spain
Banknote referee for: Andorra, Equatorial Guinea and Spain
Stratocaster was an amazing admin.

He really did his homework with every coin request he processed and I learned a lot through his corrections, comments, and explanations.
I hope I will still see you around the platform in one way or another.
Unfortunately, stratocaster's contributions also included the removal of a number of countries from Numista, such as Ceylon, British Honduras, New Hebrides and French Oceania. Who is going to fix the mess left behind? I'm glad to see stratocaster's input was not entirely negative but these mistakes do need fixing.

Thank you for the opportunity and the trust!

It was an interesting experience and I've learned a lot along the way. I'm sorry to leave some unfinished projects, but I'm positive I'm leaving them in more competent hands.

Thank you all and my best thoughts to everyone!

Merging Ceylan and Sri Lanka, etc. was a collective decision, executed by Stratocaster. There is no plan to change it.
Even if those countries changed their name following a change of regime, their territory did not change significantly, so we at Numista consider they are the same country. The change of period is denoted by the ruling authority / period. The old name is searchable and visible on the coin pages.
The reason why they were originally defined in Numista as separate issuers is only historical, as it was done before Numista had a field for ruling authority / period.

You know full well this was a decision made by a small number of admins in an unrelated forum post that has been challenged by numerous members since it began to be implemented. If you're confident this policy has widespread support, put it up for discussion and a vote. If not, please don't use the phrase "we at Numista" to describe these actions.

Indeed, I should rather have said "we Numista admins", and I take the responsibility for this decision. I know several members disagree with this change and I listened to the pros and cons. I don't wish have to have a vote about this policy as I have no intention to move back to the previous situation.

So Numista is no longer a collaborative effort?

Let us please keep this thread in line with the stratocaster's hard work and many hours spent for the common cause. As always in such cases, we can only be humble and express our utmost gratitude for the accomplishments.
Numista has grown a lot in years and this brings along inevitably new challenges. I dare to say, that we will never be united in everything, which is good for what its worth - this drives the progress, but generally I dare to speak out loud, this page is wonderful and is getting better and bigger with every passing day.

Yes, thank you for all your contributions to Numista. As an Admin your input will be missed. Without the hard work of such individuals this site would not be the excellent resource it is. Once again thank you Stratocaster for all your hard work.

Sorry for the slow reply, I've been absent for a while. I don't plan to at the moment, except maybe for some coins or issuers that are in my collection
