Hi
This may be a sensitive topic for some but I’m curious on how test kits may vary by country and how they’ve changed in the last two years.
Anyway these are my three types of COVID test kits that I’ve acquired ( and haven’t used due to me wanting to hold them to show to my grandkids when I get old) from my area (Eastern U.K.)
1st type,
Contents for 7 tests,
I think these types haven’t been issued anymore in the last 6ish months because I haven’t found any.
2nd type, I won’t show the reverse because these ones have my address on them,
Contents for 7 tests but I’ve used 1 so 6 in picture,
3rd type,
Contents for 7 tests as usual.
Instructions booklet from 1st at top to the 3rd at the bottom.
Differences worth mentioning.
The bags have changed (big bag 1st type, small bag 2nd type).
Size of the swabs are smaller.
You are not required to pour the liquid from the tab to the test tube as that is done for you already.
The process of the test (shorted to the main part) 1st type
Put the liquid from sachet into test tube.
Remove Swab from packaging and rub the fabric on the tonsils 4 times.
Put the same swab firmly into 1 nostril and roll it around 10 times.
Mix fabric of the swap in the test tube with the liquid for 15 seconds then remove the swab while squeezing the sides.
Press cap tightly then squeeze 2 drops of the fluid onto the “specimen” test strip and wait 30 minutes.
2nd type
Peel off sealer from test tube
Remove swab from packaging and instead of mouth and nose it’s instead it’s nose only but both nostrils swapped 5 times each.
Mix swab in the liquid for 30 seconds instead of 15.
Rotate the swab 5 times while Squeezing the tube and after that remove the swab from the test tube.
Same as the first one seal the tube but instead of two drops it’s four and wait between 15-30 minutes for the result.
3rd type
Same as second one in terms of preparing and swabbing your nose.
Press the fabric into the tube with force and rotate it at least 6 tubes in the tube.
Push the separate cap onto the tube and squeeze four drop onto the test strip.
Wait 15 minutes for your result.
Result readings (this is the same for all)
Line next to C is negative
Line next to C and T is positive
Line next to T is a void result
Hi to whoever is reading this. Did you know that TYPEWRITER (on a QWERTY keyboard) is the longest word you can type using only the letters on one row of the keyboard.
The data of American and German scientists indicate that rapid tests do not always reveal the presence of "omicron". I have a full dose of vaccination, nevertheless, I had coronavirus, but in a mild form, most likely due to the fact that I was vaccinated
I have big doubts about the effectiveness of tests for coronavirus (any), since I know many cases when the test showed a negative result, and the person was sick at that time.

Thanks Peter M. Graham and kevinvholloman for you explanation.
As a person who is triple jabbed and so far never caught Covid and apart from my family and a friend at college who have never caught it either the rest have had it and as mentioned before it was mild and some said they had colds worst than it. But it’s better to be safe than sorry.

I hope this is no longer a Swap offer, I'm also fascinated that my son has home kits to test and the lifespan is up to 2024. What about some of the lifespans up to 2030 and longer.
Ugh, yikes -give peace, it's a trauma, people are tired and pissed. I'm not at all surprised by the protests-we all want to live in a better virus-free time, however, nothing will be the same as it already was, we have to deal with it and not fight against it or hide. He will find it too.
the whole family is vaccinated adults 3x, children 2x - as well as from an early age against all diseases of civilization.

When I was in Dubai recently I encountered some test kits in Boots.

The Hong Kong Government has a number of types of test kit available for distribution - for free (this is where taxpayers' money is being spent). Below are a few that I've used in the past. They are all pretty much identical in their sample extraction. You stick a cotton swab up your nose, mix it in a test tube of specialised liquid, squeeze a couple drops of that onto the cartridge and wait a while.
I recall using this Hotgen test kit for my very first RAT.
Two other types I've used, both from Chinese companies. I have not used the Hecin one (left) as much as I have been using the Wondfo product (right). Recently we've picked up a bunch of leftover test kits by another brand, ordered by a relative's employer. I couldn't seem to find the exact brand online, sadly, and I'm not at home right now.
And also, unlike a number of the test kits you guys are posting on this thread, each of our tests is individually packaged. One of these cardboard boxes or plastic bags holds one test. For now I, along with Hong Kong's hundreds of thousands of other students, need to submit an RAT result every day before school starts. Most companies in the Region are also requiring their employees to conduct RATs before work. Fun for the environment, huh?
"Life is all about being too wrapped up in the now to care about the future. When the future becomes the past, you start to regret what you've done."
This virus keeps turning into new variants bypassing efforts already made to fight it No test is 100% guaranteed, no vaccine is yet capable of eradicating it The research continues and everyone can participate This participation goes exclusively and directly to research without interfering with the usual use of the material.

Since April the government in th U.K. dropped free testing unless your eligible (such as visiting hospital for an operation) or working in high risk areas for example in the medical and care sector but apart from that most people would need to purchase it from local pharmacies such as the ones I linked below.

I agree it is evolving faster than most people know it, and yes I‘am starting a small test kit collection so when my children or grand children ask about the kits I’ll mention my story of the pandemic stating my parents went to school in heatwaves, knee deep snow and especially my dad the power cuts of the late 70s, meanwhile I went to college during a pandemic.😷

We got these distributed around 6 months ago, the last wave of free tests.
Ready to roll for the next outbreak.
I have a few of them lying around, in my opinion they are the most common type distributed to the public.
