Probably fake 1 Écu 1690 [solved]

I am almost positive it is fake, the edge is smooth and there's no sun on top of Louis's effigy, but it also looks like it was struck on top of another coin. If it is just a souvenir, any tips on where it is from?

I don't know about the edge, but I think the two sides you've shown look pretty good.
I can find some other examples where the A in NAV is slightly displaced like yours, the bust details look good. Maybe the sun is missing because of the "reformation" process, since we can see letters of the previous coin showing through where the sun should be?

Hopefully someone else who knows this type much better will give an opinion.
It looks like a surprisingly good fake with the look of another coin underneath yet they didn't even attempt to do an edge.

As for its location I've seen dozens of fakes on Ebay that look identical to this coin all from 1690 (this is by far the most faked year) coming from Poland, Russia, and a few other Eastern European countries.

Here's some similar counterfeits
1. This one is being described as a fake
2. Ebay - check out this seller's other coins (if they're not banned before you check)

Right? It seems there was a surprising amount of work for a souvenir, but not nearly anything for the edge

Lots of red flags when you do a side-by-side comparison https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces27863.html

... especially the four crowns on the reverse!
