I have a beginner question that I have sought answers to here in the forum and on the web without success.
On the webside of a coin, the graded degrees are listed. Apart from these grades, there is a lot of numbers under, what do these numbers mean?
Quote: "Trooper8"These are the average/medium prices Numista users entered for that coin in their collection in whatever currency you set in your profile.
No, it's not the prices that users set in their collection, but it is an average price from sales on auctions. See https://en.numista.com/forum/topic105098.html for more information.

And as you can see in the example given in that post, the auction prices have a separate section below and don't show up in the table above.

I can't remember the exact formula, but it takes into account everything, member prices, as well as auction sales.

For auction sales, there need to be at least two (this coin has no owners):

Nice to know. It seems like we both were partly right and wrong
I would be interested in the formula too. Your example doesn't calculate the average. Either it has something to do with exchange rates or inflation is accounted for (which would be really nice).
I've noticed that the values in those tables are about half of what I've been paying for my coins in the past couple of months. I know I overpay sometimes, but not to that extent! If prices entered by users 10 years ago make it into the calculation, the values hold very little meaning. In many cases, they are now less than even the melt value of a coin.
Is there any chance of updating these, or changing how they're calculated to give a more accurate idea of how much a particular coin is worth?
