Palestine Collection

Good morning and may 2022 bring all you wish for. Have finally completed sorting, scanning and loading to EzCoin a collection of 68 countries for some 3.400 coins. Then reviewed the works towards establishing some criteria towards value/beauty and plan on posting a selection for others to view, both in this Forum and Facebook. Please feel free to tell me when to stop! Today Palestine, the next couple of days/weeks Iraq, Egypt, Straits Settlements, South Africa Republic, Netherlands. Hope you derive as much pleasure as much as we have, some very wonderful coins now fully catalogued and for all to enjoy

Beautiful. I recently helped my son finish the entire 59 coin set for British Mandate Palestine coins. We had a blast doing it. Took us about 4 years.

Looks good, by all means continue to share.
I particularly like to see collections laid out this way.

Nice group, aaronmgd - wow! Some of the dates of Palestinian coins are rare and very expensive like the 1931 100 mils ($700).

I have about 20 different of these coins and they are nice, many are quite rare and expensive, even the cheaper years are not that affordable, although high quality examples are available.

Here are a few of mine.

A complete set of the denominations (1 and 2 mils, bronze, 5, 10, 20 Cupronickel and holed, 50 and 100 are 72% silver). The 20 mils is a large coin and quite hard to find, only the 1927 is the common one.

The 5,10, 20 mils were bronze in WW2 due to metal shortages. The coins were issued from 1927 to 1947 and in 1949 Israel issued new coins based on the currency system, but smaller due to inflation.

20 and 50 mil coins. The 50 mil is the same size as a British shilling and was 1/20 of a Palestinian pound. Denominations in English, Hebrew and Arabic.

My 2 examples of the 100 mil coin, 1935 and 1939 (Both EF but 35 is toned), these are 2 fairly common dates, some are much more rare and hard to find.

1927 10 mils and 2 mils, I only have 1 2 mil coin and its this worn and stained one. 1927 was the first year and the coins of this date are generally easy to get (The 100 mils is a bit harder)

1934 5 mils in fairly nice shape (The white stain is paint wearing off my outdoor furniture!)

1942 One mil in decent condition, notice the branch motifs on the 1,2 and 50, 100 mil coins.

Hope you guys liked and loved to see some of your Palestinian coins too.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Beautiful coins Headshot10 and Moneytane, These designs are one of the best (in my opinion) in the Middle East of that period.
Hi to whoever is reading this. Did you know that TYPEWRITER (on a QWERTY keyboard) is the longest word you can type using only the letters on one row of the keyboard.

Definitely was an adventure getting the full set. Strategic purchases, swaps, trades, upsells and up-trades. Making new friends along the process (Some of whom we still keep up with from time to time).

My son started on this collection after I gave him a Full Type set for the series. He insisted on getting all 59....

It was a real adventure and we had an absolute blast.

He is 15 years old now. Started this set at 11 yrs old approx. His original goal was to finish by his Bar Mitzvah (13 yrs old). That didn't happen.

But he did finish the set before his 15th birthday..... With a lot of help from Papa....

I have 3 other semi complete sets that are missing 3-4 coins each that I plan on finishing over the next few years. Would love to have a full set for my 2 girls when they get older and 1 for myself.

My older daughter (12 yrs) collects mainly banknotes - She has every banknote from Israel (I happen to be ref for this on numista) from Pick# 8 thru Pick# 68 besides for 2 notes (P# 18 and P# 23). We are hoping to get her those 2 notes over the next few years....
My younger daughter (8yrs old) collects "ONLY SHINY" coins or "COINS WITH QUEENS".

If I follow the same discipline on these 3 remaining partial sets I should be able to complete them no problem.

And I am sure that along the way we will be making many more friends. That I would say was the nicest part of the process.

All the best,
Aaron

I love this set of coins especially since there is a full date / type set of every coin that was bought sued it’s so fun collecting every single version issued for a country feels like completion
