Below is a thread I copied from Coin Community Forum, titled "Fanciful Ghetto Stamps on Banknotes from Poland:

Why people do that?

This seller has a lot of banknotes damaged by a fanciful stamps.

Numista has P-102 50 Zlotych from Krakow listed.
Also there is P-89 100 Zlotych & P-90 Zlotych each with diagonal stamps that read
Generalgouvernement für die besetzten polnischen Gebiete" (Government General for the occupied Polish territories)

It looks like the first three items were removed from eBay. Maybe a number of people reported the seller.

That's great. I report these charlatans all the time with mixed results. Thanks for sharing.

As i understand this the Nazis never stamped notes, correct me if im wrong but i see the ones like you showed ( or at least the one still up ) come around from time to time. Its a dead give away that the note is in a crisp condition. But i see them even on note that look real such as this one

i was actually about to make a thread about this subject myself since i dont know of any authority (PCGS, NGC ect ect ) that has ever certified a Nazi stamp note.

my Question is should i just assume all notes with stamps are fakes or at least the stamps are fakes or was there ever a real use of these stamps on money? ( Usually the Waffen SS or Ghetto stamps)

It is a good question but my policy is, if in doubt, assume the worse: that notes like these could be easily stamped/doctored years later. I'm not a historian but from what I read, Germany occupied Romania in WWI. Unfortunately, there are many sellers out there who created all sorts of junk by stamping & trying to beef up the relevance of common dealer stock rags bought for pennies.

Antonescu turned to Hitler for Germany's protection. Unknown to him, Hitler made a deal behind his back signing over the supervision of Romania to the Russians. But the Germans did maintain a number of concentration camps. While it is possible that some notes are stamped with something, the stamps should be plain (unlikely to glorify some of the old Nazi symbols). Here's the Wiki Site's info on this sad chapter of world strife.

By the way, some time ago I posted a fake Westerbork transit camp note some time ago that doesn't have extra fake stamps but rather misses the serial number. I got it in a cheap lot. It would have some value if it were authentic.

I just found a good video from the ANA on faked overprints & several things to look for when looking for older WW1 & older era rare notes. It's a little long but well worth a look if you're after such rarities. Remember, usually faked notes are created for higher valued/scarce notes to rip people off.

Thanks for this, Serial_Number_8.

I wasn't aware the ANA had a YouTube channel and will subscribe.
