In 2022, Numista will issue its third souvenir token. Like in 2013 and 2017, we organize a contest for the token design, open to everyone.
Who can participate?
All Numista members can participate.
How to participate?
Participants should submit their design for the obverse and the reverse of the token, via a personal message to me, before January 16th. You can submit several designs.
Who will select the winning design?
The winning design will be selected in 2 phases:
I will make a pre-selection of 4 to 6 designs.
Among this pre-selection, the final design will be selected by a vote open to all Numista members registered on or before December 1st, 2021.
What are the requirements for the design?
You can propose any design that represents Numista, its values, or numismatics in general. Be creative and express your vision of Numista!
The lettering should include at least the name "Numista" and the date "2022".
You can add your initials to the design.
What is the reward?
The author of the winning design will get 3 silver tokens and 5 copper tokens.
What will happen next?
The selected design will be submitted to the minting company, which will create a 3D model from the design and produce the token in two versions: silver .900 and copper, with a respective mintage of 200 and 350. I plan to follow a similar process as for the 2013 token, described on Numisdoc.
What are the dates of the project?
02 December 2021: Opening of the design contest
16 January 2022 midnight GMT: Closure of the contest
20 January 2022: Announcement of pre-selected designs and opening of the vote
06 February 2022 midnight GMT: Closure of the vote
May 2022: Expected date for the availability of the tokens.
Xavier would it be possible to Add versions also in Gold?
more scarse, maybe limited to 10 or 15 pieces?

Is there any free applications out there similar to Microsoft paint? If not I might draw them even though I’m not the best at drawing.
Hi to whoever is reading this. Did you know that TYPEWRITER (on a QWERTY keyboard) is the longest word you can type using only the letters on one row of the keyboard.
EDIT: No it doesn’t I’ve instead downloaded Krita instead.

As well these competitions for the winning design to be used on a physical token, I think we should have competitions for banknotes and fantasy circulation coins in any format such as a bimetallic design. But instead of being turned into a physical token as the previous competitions did, I think that the top three that win should get a dedicated page on this site and for the others a separated page with all of the entrees placed in a list.

Because the idea doesn't work for 20 years and I never got a good idea for the obverse and didn't get to make a vector graphic for the center reverse element I post my unfinished draft outside the contest just for fun.
Some nice designs, looking forward to see the winning design.
So will there be also an available option in gold

A gold version was not in my original plans, but it might be feasible. I'd like to make a quote from the mint and check for potential delivery restrictions first. If ever I do it, it will probably be very limited mintage and available only for people who pre-order it.
What would be the ideal format for you? I was thinking about a ¼ ounce, with similar specifications to the Krugerrand. What do you think?
It sounds good, although I would not have an ideal format in mind.
Fineness .986 or .999 would Sound better to me.
I would think that it should have at least a weight of 3g, 1/4 ounce also sounds great.
recently the modern coin market is being flooded with these 0.5 and 1.0g gold coins but really not a fan of those.
Gold is of course mot a cheap metal but something with a sales price of over 1.000€ would be too much I believe for such an item.

Quote: "mifrjoar"I prefer a gold version in same diameter and thickness than the other ones.
Pre-Order and pre-payment are no problem.
That would be almost 2 ounces (gold is almost twice as heavy as silver)! Well beyond 1000 euros.
There will not be more than one format of the gold version, so I would like to suggest a vote.
Please answer only if you intend to buy a gold version of the Numista 2022 token. https://forms.gle/xjCtjBFrB3Ws2wnQ9

2 ounces is very heavy, but one ounce is wuite good. A gold version need to be exclusive. If it is too light and small you may sell more gold than silver and bronze ones :)
My idea is that we are not going in the right direction.
It's a token, not a genuine coin ! Numista sure, but still a token.
So a 1 gram gowld token with a diameter of 25mm is pretty common and it's good enough for our anniversary
So add the option: The Numista's gowld token for the 15th anniversary, Pure gowld ! 1 gram will be more than enough

I doubt that 1 gram with a diameter 25 mm would be feasible. Your linked example has a diameter of only 8 mm. With such small diameter, we would probably need a simpler design than the designs which were proposed. Also, I personally don't really like such small formats. I added the option to the survey anyway, to let everyone express their opinion.
to vote a registration at google is necessary. I do not like to register with google and spent my data around the world. I am not a friend of google, facebook and all the other espionage companies.
So I couldnt vote there, I do it public:
I prefer 1 ounce but 1/2 or 1/4 ounce would be all right, too.
I don't like this "voting" where people (by avatar) can defend/explain their designs officially BEFORE the voting of 5 designs being chosen by Xavier (our God). I found out after my vote was given and I would like to revoke my vote, which should be considered blanc.!!!!!!! Oh my God!

Thanks for your vote, I'll take it into account anyway.

When deciding about the weight of the coins, I think you should take into consideration that not all countries have the same wages, and buying 1, 1/2 or even 1/4 ounce of gold can be affordable, but very expensive too depending on where you live. Making tokens that only collectors from the Western, well developed countries can afford to buy goes against the whole "without borders" idea in my opinion.
I voted for the 5 gr coin, as it's parameters are quite close to standard LMU 20 francs. They are not too big, but at the same time still have enough space for a nice design and not too expensive compared to collector's budgets (still 2 to 4 months of hobby money for the average collector in Eastern Europe, but at least not unaffordable).
Hello,
I made more investigation about producing a gold token. If I keep the same production process as for copper and silver tokens, the cost would be prohibitively high. It would also bring a lot of additional work to arrange the administrative duties, the insurance, etc. For these reasons I prefer not to make a gold version of the token.
