The Indian 2 rupee coin with minatge between 1992 and 2004 is listed as 11 sided coin. I have noticed several round coins that are minted during this period. Attaching photo of the coins for your reference. The coin in the cente is what is listed but the coin to the right minted in 1995 is the coin i am suggesting to be listed as a new variant.

I have also seen visuals of the round coin on advertisments on Numista as can be seen from screen shot attached.

Kindly consider the request.

Regards,

Ram
Is this the same coin discussed here?

The reference is to Rs. 2 coins but for the period 1992 to 2004. The earlier discussion was relating to coins that were allegedly tampered. The point i am raising is that there are round coins also issued between 1992 and 2004 as can be seen from several coins in my possession and also seen in an advertisment for coins that i have posted earlier.

Dear Ram,

The official Shape of the 2 Rupees National Integration was Eleven Sided.

Please check the  Reserve Bank of India's Currency Museum Page, https://rbi.org.in/Scripts/mc_republic.aspx

The coins minted in Foreign mints are almost perfectly Eleven Sided. Some Calcutta/ Kolkata mint coins are also in perfect Eleven Sided too.

But, most of the circulation strikes are not in perfect Eleven Sided But have small flat faces.

Yes, Some perfect round shaped coins are reported too. Those are strikes in the 1 Rupee Copper Nickel planchets or Cut by the Round die used to cut 1 Rupee planchets. Because the size and thickness of the 1 Rupee and 2 Rupees are almost the same.  Those round shaped coins are considered error coins only.

I think it will be helpful to you.

Thanks and regards,

Ponpandi.
