Howdy friends!

I have a question regarding the Pseudo-byzantine issues by the early Islamic States in the 600s CE (1st century Hijari), Should the Pseudo-Byzantine issues be shifting into the Rashidun Khalifate on this website? Now on this website some of them are listed under the Umayyad section, where as they are not listed under that in Stephen Album's Check list of Islamic Coins (3rd ed). Album puts them in the era of the Rashidun Khalifate for most of their production cycle, being discontinued 9 years after the Umayyad Khalifate came into being. I would recommend this shift as their is a clear difference between the Pesudo and Imitations of Byzantine coins. As the Imitations under the Umayyad's contain arabic text, whereas the Pesudo-Byzantine coins contain no arabic instead mostly greek or the best greek letters they could manage. I source this information, again, from Stephen Album's books as it is as i understand it the most comprehensive text on the matter forgive me if my question/request is in error.

thank you very much for taking my request into consideration

Hello,

going through old forum requests, sorry for being so late.

As far as I see, Pseudo-Byzantine coins we have on Numista have date ranges that fit into Umayyad caliphate. If there are others that would not fit within 661–750 then they surely should be in different sections.

If I missed any coin currently in catalogue, please let us know.

Best regards,

Jarek
