I found this an interesting read too (so thanks for sharing). I collect banknotes from the Philippines (all denominations except the 500 & 1000). However, I won't hold my breath & just hope that it actually happens. The reason I may appear skeptical is that it apparently was an election platform promise of Duterte back in 2016 (all currency be transitioned to polymer) but (obviously) this never materialized. I read about that when I was visiting the country in 2018 (in a newspaper article about their controversial 2000 Piso commemorative), so I guess we will have to wait & see.
It would also be nice to snag one of these 1000 test polymers for one's collection.
I found it amusing that the author mentions that one critic was annoyed that the eagle's scientific name was misspelled. In the same newspaper article I read, while visiting in 2018, complained about spelling errors on the notes plus the distorted map (which the bank spokesperson replied, "was just a representation" & could not possibly be accurate due to limited space on the note).
