Hi to whoever is reading this. Did you know that TYPEWRITER (on a QWERTY keyboard) is the longest word you can type using only the letters on one row of the keyboard.

Not really but if you are willing to send your coins to be graded in Paris by PCGS that’s an option.

I never use grading companies, I am proficient in grading them my self so why should I pay someone to do a job I can do as well if not better.

Where do you live I could do with some grading

Dont believe anybody who self proclaims they are proficient at grading everything and anything and maybe even better. What exactly are you looking to have graded as there are specialists for everything imaginable and you didn't specify.

I grade my own coins, and yes I am quite proficient at grading, it comes with over 60 years experience in coin collecting and grading, so I am not to be believed then ??? I find your post quite insulting and offensive as you are calling me a liar, I await your apology asap

Trust me pal, I owe you nothing for your pompous, self flattering, self promotional, self validating, egotistical, outrageous claims.

Frankly you offend me and insult my intelligence.

Ivgot various coins but would like a 1831 proof set grading and an 1826 proof £5 coin, I've recently acquired them so don't know to much about them only what I've googled..

Jjones

A 1831 Proof SET and a 1826 Proof coin? If you are implying that you have what I think you have, you definitely want to use a professional grading service or an auction house for an assessment of authenticity, preservation, condition, grade and an appraisal. This is an entirely different level of expertise required and I recommend you do so privately. Begs the questions. Is it complete and Provenance?

Consider these:

Heritage Auctions

London Coin

Spink

NGC UK

I first seen them over 40 years ago when my grandad had them but how long they was in the family before that I don't know, the set is complete, I did take them to a birmingham coin fair in the motorbike museum a few months back to find out a bit more, but to be honest the people I showed them to was only interested if I wanted to sell them which at the moment I don't, they did suggested getting them slabed but I read somewhere about £300 per coin depending on value, going of what I read definitely 4 of the 14 coins would be that price maybe more, I could be in to £2000+ to get them graded, to be honest it's only the grade I want, I don't really want them slabed because they won't then fit in the original case, as for the value I've looked online at previously sold sets so if I had the grade I'd get a rough idea of value if ever I wanted to sell them,

Thank you for replying..

Jjones

Understood. They are most valuable as a set and you should keep them that way, as is,  in whatever container you recieved them in. What I am suggesting then is an apprasial or an evauluation of the entire set from the most professional people you can find. Each coin will be evaluated individually anyway to determine the estimated total value of the set. They are proof coins and if well preserved and taken care of, should grade high with perhaps only a few comments or deductions for minor visual imperfections such as scratches and blemishes if any. The only question then is how high. That takes an real expert.  You can get free evaluations locally in High end coin shops, Local Coin clubs, etc. Call your insurance company, perhaps they can evaluate them to suggest an Insurance value. If they can't help you maybe they can send you in the right direction locally. Good luck with them.

That sounds like good advice, thank you..

This coin?  N#13191 which sold this year for US $300,000 (PR65DC) and only 150 exists? If so, and you're 100% (or even 85%) sure it's authentic it is an absolute must to have it graded if you plan to sell it. Depending on what coins are in the 1831 Proof Set they could be worth $50,000 sold individually.

Edit: Wait! These are the same coins you asked about a year ago?  https://en.numista.com/forum/topic143442.html

I think I previously mentioned I'm not looking to sell any of them, but would like to get an idea of the grade as there's such a large variant of these coins online,

Regards James.

Jjones

Is it the 12 coin proof set. Can you post pictures?

14 coins,

Jjones

Very nice.  My mistake (or rather SCWC mistake). They say 12 coins then list 14.
