Hello.. i need some help because i want to buy this coin and the seller does not offer much INFO! Is really a 1 Cedid Mahmudiye or normal FAKE? Is just one info : 1.52-57 weight! Thanks!
This one is a little confusing. perhaps purposely. I think it is representing itself to be this one in the attached link. Minted in Constantinople in 1223 (1808) but actually issued in 1251 (1836). Based on comparison to the Numista photo, In my opinion it is not genuine. I am not an expert on Ottoman coins but the photo you provided just does not seem right. Especially on the obverse.

Hello harryg! Thanks for your time to reply and search for this coin. Your opinion is very important for me to have a final decision!
(1836) issued.. Yeap! Thanks very much! I will need 2-3 more opinions to have a final decision.
looks like the Toughra in your picture is flipped vertically. Should look like this:

Right, as if the photo was taken as a mirror reflection and only a weight "range" provided. Why? With the hole, you would think it would weigh even less. No diameter provided, etc. I am suspicious and the details are close but not quite right. Your opinion on it?

Not an expert either but if you could somehow get past the mirror image minting you're still left with the details wreath and flowers look off.

I would not buy this coin.
I agree, this does not have the look of a legitimate coin. There were many imitations of Ottoman coins made to be used as clothing ornaments ("belly dancer tokens") and I suspect this may be one of these.
If it is an imitation, it is much better than the types of tokens we often see here. The devices look very close, but as others have mentioned, it does not look quite correct compared to a real example.

The numbers are a bit different, the amount of open space in the design is different , etc.

Maybe just a die variety, but I would not buy it unless it is being sold at bullion value, and with a possibility to return it if it does not test as gold.

I have one how look like . It in gold plate copper. Was very popular in 19 century for create a head cover for womens.
