When looking at the reverse of the coin in the photograph, it shows a 'D' in the outer ring and just above the church building.
The coin I am holding has a 'D' in the outer ring, but an 'A' above the church building.

Is there an error or is this common?
I'm just a collector of coins, not a slave to it, unless I am in a coin shop.

The mintmark is above the church building and can be all 5 different letters. The "D" in the outer ring is not a mintmark: that D stands for the issuing country D(eutchland).
