There are 281 types. The number of varieties would depend on your definition of variety.
So he's just collecting bulk coins.....

OK then. I was trying to help since no one else seemed to be by trying to determine just what you are asking. Now, I'll think I'll pass. Have a good day.
I'll bow out as well.

Take care

Can you simply count how many different United States of America quarters are in your collection. I am a simple coin collector wanting to know a simple answer. OK maybe I am not a lawyer or have masters in descriptive English.

I'm guessing he means the total numbers of dates and total mint marks for each date. Then there are proofs etc.

Search United States and face value of 25 and add up every line on every page that doesn't describe an error and you'll have your answer. It's unlikely anyone would do such an extensive count for you to begin with as it could take hours, but being rude to the few people even slightly attempting to help you is certainly not the way to go about it.
Of major varieties not many.

None before Barbers (1892 - 1915) - I only have 1902 VG

on right next to oxidised Indian cent

Standing Libs - just 1 but a nice 1917 Type 1

Washington Silver (Just 2) 1959 and 1962

Washington clad - Most of them 1965 to 1998 and I usually collect P and D mints

1976 40% silver quarter with the set of it and Half and Ike Dollar.

State Quarters - 67 out of 102 (I collect P and D dates), plus I have proof 2000 and 2004 quarters.

America the beautiful quarters - 26 including all 5 from 2020 of the Denver mint.

Total of 138 different quarters and 34 duplicate quarters all clad.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

417 total

First- 1854 Seated Liberty
Last- 2021 Washington Crossing the Deleware P & D Mint
I have got 503 including proofs.

Honestly never tried to figure it out by "types" and "varieties" but total quarters in my possession as part of my collection, doubles that I keep, for swap, by date, all the mints, proofs, and everything else I can think of is around 1,123. I may have missed a quarter here and there. Earliest , 1828 Liberty Cap Quarter (with motto) to 2021 Tuskegee Airmen and Crossing the Delaware both P & D mints. Yes, I am a bit of a hoarder and most of them are keepers.:D
and I cannot see the goal of the question. No answer from me, but plenty, plenty! I don't want to waste my time on tsuch trivious questions, when there are so many other ways to bring alightening to numismatists, than counting their coins.....

Just wanted to mention how much I love your example. That is one Beautiful 1917D Type 1 Standing Liberty quarter. I have one but not nearly as nice.
Thanks,

It was a chance find in a bulk collection I brought for $200, it was there with about 5 AU and UNC 1916 and 1917 Mercury dimes.

I don't have much American classics, but make an exception for these.

Gee, AND 5 AU - UNC 1916 / 17 Mercury dimes. That lot was a very special find indeed. You really know how to make a Yank jealous. 8. Please don't tell me you have a 1916D Mercury dime in this find too. If you do, I'm jumping on a plane to New Zealand.:D
Hope you had a recent covid test and ready to place MIQ quaratine hotel lottery where you have 1 chance in 30k of getting 1 of 3k rooms!

No D's sorry but I can offer P and S, also a 1913 Type 2 Buffalo in AU condition

Literally thousands of silver quarters. I don't even bother adding them to numista because I sell them frequently and it is difficult to keep up with adding and subtracting them.

Otherwise It isn't even worth my time to collect US quarters because unless they are silver they are only worth 25 cents. I could pick up thousands in rolls from my bank if I had a desire to. It annoys me though when I see collectors saying they have tens of THOUSANDS of coins and a huge collection :° but they have only modern bulk coins you can for cents by the pound!

And this is the reason why I can't stand this site and rarely visit here. The O.P. asked a rather innocuous question, how many quarter varieties do you have? How difficult is it to either answer the question or just move along: i.e. 302 with the earliest 1853 with arrows, the latest Washington crossing the Delaware.

Instead we have posters indignant that someone has counted their quarters and wants everyone to know that they refuse to do so (whoop-de-do).

Then we have the posters trying to steal the thread to talk about Mercury Dimes and whatnot. Maybe you should start your own thread if you don't want to stay on the original point.

Not a bad point rsirian1, maybe I should have done that. I didn't expect that my 10th post on this site would be a rant, but so be it.

Trust me Skippy, I wasn't trying to steal anything or whatnot. Where is your quarter variety count Mr. stay on subject? Grow up.
Sorry about things, I had a doctor visit I was concerned about and just let loose on things. I did give my numbers in my post, 302 1853 etc.

Someone was praising my quarter, that led to Mercury Dimes, excuse me.

Seriously you have a problem with me and my content, say to my face! Don't start bitching at someone else.

Let me see, over 1000 posts many constructive posts and I was the only person who actually showed some quarters. You 12 posts - contribution to this site - NOTHING - go and get a life.

Elephantboy - go stick your trunk somewhere else.

Doctor's visit - lame excuse, we have been in lockdown two months and my partner is having heart surgery, but you don't see me lashing into someone who showed a few quarters and dimes which in my opinion liven up the thread.

Thanks for taking the time to take those photos and post them. These are beautiful too and all are highly desirable in high grades such as yours . Still , only the 1916D is the rare and highly prized one worth the truly big dollars in almost any condition if you can find one. We better move on now before the quarter police arrive again.
Quickelephant has unsubscribed . . He did say he couldn't stand the site though. So it is a goodbye from me ;)

I wish everyone a nice weekend and good health.

Ladies and gentlemen- Our hobby of collecting coins is called the game of kings and rich people. And the rich mentally and knowingly with an overlap on art and history.
Stress is definitely not the answer.

Please distinguish between the representatives of the planet-there are collectors with a country where the quarter coin is an hourly wage -or it is a pious desire to own one.

Here at the beginning, as a person, I only knew what it was all about, I love coins that have a story in their design as well. I envy states that issue circulation coins each year to commemorate historical or other events.
I also filed a motion in our state governor of our state bank, to publish more than once every 30 years, and sell through the state post office and thus a little financially encourage it. I was told that it would not happen, that she did not see the point.

So who has the opportunity to acquaint us here with the coins with your mints but photos description of the metal and why there is a soldier or a flower on the given coin, show us it's I think a lot of those who like to watch a news or story about coins.

I love cents and they are the same and quarters fascinate me with their variety , living overseas is like going to the laundry in those common rooms so I wouldn't let my wife do the laundry she wouldn't have a chance to overtake me even if I ............
Just shoot the newest quarters and give it a story and not drag and ridicule each other.

Very childish and sexist behavior. Pretty disappointed that someone who has been on the site for over 7 years lashes out at a new member.
Kinda funny that you apologized right after he/she deleted their account.

I didn't lash out, I responded to what I considered was unjust criticism.
HarryG showed real interest in one of my coins and mentioned dimes, I showed him some dimes and they were hardly rubbish coins or too far from quarters of the same period.

I did not see the rule in the thread "Discuss quarters only or else".

Also I felt I had an advantage as many posters said they had like 500 or more quarters but never showed any of them, whereas I posted pictures of my quarter first (The dimes came later as some one asked for them).

And then comes Mr or Mrs Newbie complaining about people "hijacking the thread with dimes". I mean how dare they, where do they get off with their subterfuge and their dimes which really deserve to go back to the hole they climbed out of. The nerve of those shiny half sized 10 cent coins. Do they not know you have to be 25 cents or more to make the grade, and don't think we forgot about that penny.

(And in case your pink cheeks are venting and you are ready to call the UN, this is called Irony or Sarcastic humour)

And how is it "sexist" - I had no idea or cared about the gender of our Pachydermic protester. is making a joke not allowed in this overly PC/Woke agenda some of you have now?

On another a mod said Numista is not the place for this woke, SJW, PC Brigade Cancel culture nonsense.

I apologise and would have despite our elephantine friend stamping off back into the savanna (Humour police are striking again).

Seriously you need to get a life and its rich you picking on me for being sexist and the like when your name pays lip service to an evil empire that tried to take over the world and wipe out a race of harmless Africans in 1904 (Shark Bay and Herero atrocities).

PC nonsense will come back and bite you on the bum.

Can we move on? or are you just going to gripe and moan some more?

Also funny how I have 11x more posts than you, are still on account number one and actually have people in this thread who support my views and appreciated my coins - so I guess I am doing SOMETHING right.

When I say "German_empire5_mark_fan" I am refering to the 2nd empire's crown size 5 mark coins. Check my profile which I haven't changed in months.

Even if I was refering to the 3rd reich I am not condoning their genocide and murder of jews and the 2nd empires colonization in Africa.
I SIMPLY LIKE THEIR COINS! (not ones from the 3rd reich if you didn't pick that up already)This is a form about coins not politics!

Dozens of relatives in my family fought against and even a few died fighting against the Fascist Germans in WW2.

Also I never referred to you posting dimes being a terrible sin! I never even MENTIONED it yet you keep defending yourself for it.

I also don't need to tell people to "get a life" repeatedly and use slurs that are offensive to make a point. It isn't even a question about PC it is just common courtesy not to use a slur that has been used to shame women for centuries. Let alone on a public forum about COINS.

In the words of Rodney King "Why can't we just get along".
I am sorry I asked the question. Thanks for the person who stood up for me, and sorry he left us.
By the way I added 11 new Barber quarters so now I have making a total of 484 different. (including proofs , not errors)

For the record, I feel partly responsible for the discourse here and I am sorry for that. However, this is the free discussion board and not the first or last time the original topic wandered off topic. I was simply admiring an extremely nice, highly desirable, very valuable, and difficult to find U.S. quarter that the poster mentioned he happened to get in a lot. That lot included 1916 and 1917 Mercury dimes in AU/UNC condition. The 1916D Mercury Dime is the holy grail in that type and I felt compelled to follow through and asked the poster if he happened to have that particular one. Thinking perhaps he was even unaware of exactly what he had and may have missed a very important and tiny mintmark that makes all the difference in the world. He was gracious enough to take the time to go through them again and to show exactly what he had. All still magnificent in their own way but not the holy grail. For that, I am not sorry but appreciative that he shared it at my request. Still a wonderful and very lucky lot to find anywhere and just happened to start with his beautiful quarter.

Just like you attacked me for defending my right to show dimes and attack some sad sack who had a problem with that.

I felt that was unjust and you did not agree, so to show you how unjust accusations can hurt and cause offense, I attacked your username and you became Krakatoic. Yet you still can not see that.

My guess is you are either pigheaded, young or just plain reactionary keyboard warrior. Exams suggests to me you are fairly young as it means most likely High School or University level, but I could be wrong if they are say Police or Lawyer type stuff, I don't know because I am working class.

You want to keep rehashing it and trying to prove some point, but you are not.

I want to move on and will no longer respond, hopefully you will too - but I doubt it as I can you see you love having the last word.

Part of the reason I prefer CCF to this site, as the conversation is more mature and less PC/Woke.
