Is it possible to buy current issues for collectors directly from governments

I was told by someone at a coin & banknote show that it was possible. I never pursued it. Has anyone bought UNC notes at face value or close to face value in this way?
You mean from like the Central Bank's webpage? That would be awesome!
Yes, that is what I meant.
I've heard some people talking about some banks, like Samoa, allows people to purchase from their webpage, but I haven't succeeded yet. Would love to know too.
I'm pretty sure you can by uncirculated Danish notes from the royal Danish mint, as per the website of Danmarks Nationalbank:

That looks promising but note that there is a "handling fee" & "frank soldi" was asking about notes at FV (face value) or near FV. Even the BEP which is open for tours (in Washington, DC) charge a premium for the regular run-of-the-milll notes they sell there. (That & sheets: why anyone would buy a sheet of Ones is beyond me).

I have never heard of Central banks providing that & I don't know of any place that will offer people something for nothing. Even my own bank (which has charged me service fees/small fortune for my mortgage) gets all worked up if I ask them for UNC bundles of Fives or Tens ($5 or $10 notes here in Canada). Some want to charge me a fee.

What I've done (in the past) is go to exchange houses (or outlets) & asked the tellers if they have any ___>insert your desired nation's currency here< that are in crisp (non circulated) condition for foreign currency. I got a crisp UNC 20 pound from the BOE this way. So it can happen (if the teller knows what you're talking about). It's a "hit or miss" thing & will depend on whether the pandemic even allows these places to be open (or not). You could also try your bank & just describe how new you want your bills.

Yes. I used to get banknotes directly from the Central Bank inIreland, posted abroad. However, on one occasion the note was folded neatly in two, making an EF from an UNC!
Cost was always face value plus postage. This was how I obtained my Irish T 500 Euro note, which would likely grade around 67-68.
