Just a quick question.

As you can see, we have listed as Coin alignment.

Mine is Medal Alignment.

NGC is not much help as they have no technical data and incorrect plate coin.

Thanks for your help.

From the coin page, 1889 and 1899 were medal alignment so it seems reasonable that 1893 was too. Also the ebay listing for 2 1893 coins are medal alignment as is the numiscorner listing.

I just checked the 8th edition of SCWC and since they don't mention the orientation, I just suppose, the referee entering the coin just took a 50% chance8~ and got it wrong.

All my 1 double coins are coin oriented, I don't have the 1893 though.

Coin varieties in French:

From my collection:
  • Coins from Queen Elizabeth II are medal alignment. (Although I don't have all the modern issues.)
  • Coins from 1864, 1889, and 1893 are medal alignment.
  • The rest are coin alignment.

Most types are one alignment, but KM 10, 9, 5, and 7 are variable. (Possibly depending on the year.)

I need to recheck my 1899 1 Double. My catalog says Coin but Numista says Medal.
For this type, KM# 10, in my collection: 1868, 1899, and 1903 are coin alignment and 1889 is medal alignment.

Peter, what year is your coin with medal alignment?
Mine is the 1893H.

Hi Peter looking on the museum info they describe the 1893H axis as 12 So I assume that it is Medal alignment as they describe the 1911 as Axis 6 Which would indicate coin alignment. Hope that helps. British commonwealth Coins were struck in many alignments and there isn't really a consistent reason why one year changed from another.
Thank you all. Solved.
