Cayes of Belize set, Caicos Islands set and souvenir sheet, Redonda set and souvenir sheet, Barbuda set, Niutao-Tuvalu 4 blocks of 2

Only question: In July 1937 a colonial government advertised a public competition for designs for the colony's first pictorial stamps. How many designs were entered?

A really nice prize of unusual countries and pretty birds so I tried to make the question among the most difficult. The first response with the correct answer before or at 10 P.M. September 20, 2021 will be the winner. If no correct answer is submitted, the first response within 50 designs of the correct figure will win. My decision as to the winner will be final.

Good luck to all those who choose to enter!

Will
I'm leaving a wild guess while trying to search about the said contest (nothing so far): 25.
This is very hard. My wild guess is 217.
Could have something to do with the Coronation of King George VI.
I think it was Burma and 252 designs were entered :)
They say "Pecunia non olet", but I know better...
Wild guess from me too: 25 000.

smvdbrink wins with the exact number! Great research there, my friend! I really expected it not to be solved. Congratulations!

Everyone keep watching for the next giveaway.

Thanks Will! Are there rules about how many times one can participate in your contest?

No rules about participation. Anyone can choose to participate or not. Everyone has a fair chance each giveaway.
