5 posts • viewed 68 times
Manama souvenir sheets (UPU overprints on UN-after UAE in charge of posts); Equatorial Guinea UPU gold foil (2 stamps, 2 souvenir sheets)

Only question: There was only one Latin character on all the stamps of a specific Indian feudatory state. What did the character stand for?

Winner will have correct answer before or at 2 P.M., 12 September, 2021. If there is no correct answer first response will win. My decision as to winner will be final.

Good luck to all who decide to participate!

I recall hearing this somewhere. Can’t remember which state, but should be an R for revenue

Edit: Was it Jind?
I also believe it's Jind, but that stamps with a R were just for a period (1874-1888).
And the R in question is for the initial letter of Raja Raghubir Singh, the maharaja of Jind at the time.

Giobruno is our winner! Congratulations.

The stamps without an R were issued after Jind became a convention state, so all its stamps as a feudatory state had the R.

Your stamps will be on their way as soon as today! Thanks for participating.

More giveaways to come when I find the time to find more questions.

Congratulations to Giobruno. I still feel like giving myself a pat on the back because this is the first time I even had a remote idea of what it could be!
