Hi everyone

On multiple coin pages across Numista, I have seen the following phenomenon:

What has happened here is that someone has uploaded a new reverse image while leaving the obverse in place. The new image comes out much smaller than the image it was replacing. The pop-up of the new image is about the same size as the thumbnail of the unchanged, obverse image.

Here is the actual coin page: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces4145.html. As I say, I have seen this problem with the reduced image size on multiple Numista pages recently, and also in some of the lists.

I think something is going wrong with image uploads.

Even if that was the case, why would a referee accept a 200x194 replacement image?

As we get ever larger screen resolutions, I wish Numista would standardise around much larger images, 2000x2000 minimum on a 4k screen.

Even re-sized tiny images are easier to see - and look way better than the original.

Although it's no substitute for uploading high-res images in the first place; could sizing not be done server side for the many tiny images?

On multiple coin pages across Numista, I have seen the following phenomenon:

Quiconque trouve dans le catalogue une image comme le revers de cette fiche peut en fournir le lien sur le forum
Anyone who finds an image like the back of this sheet in the catalog can provide the link on the forum
Numista › Forum › Numista coin catalog CCIP
They come from replacement either of other photos or of missing photos
Images illustrating new catalog entries are monitored, not replacements
Thanks

I'm pretty sure that something is actually wrong with the image upload system, with regard to resizing.

The coin sheet in my original example now looks like this, with both images in the smaller size:

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces4145.html

And yet, the images that were uploaded (kindly made and uploaded by other users, but made available in this conversation) are a perfectly good, large size.
Do you know if this occurred when you uploaded the pictures to your modification request or when the pictures on your modification request were uploaded to the coin page?
Nothing wrong with the uploading system. The person who uploaded just right clicked saved the picture from the thread. That of course is just the mini and not the full size picture. The easiest way is you'll have to open them in a new tab to get the original size.
I will upload the full size images this time I just didn't want to take that away from the original uploader.

If they have been changed by another member they have the same @ Copyright!

These new images are 200x200 which does not allow an enlargement of their thumbnail by clicking on it.
The ideal is a minimum of 300x300

Idolenz's explanation is is the most logical and most probably correct. I downloaded the pictures from the thread without opening them and they were the exact same size as what ended up on the coin's page. Uploading them correctly as full images in the change request (as Idolenz has done) will solve this.
What problem? If it's the second we can solve it in one minute.
