I should say at the start that I abhor that Royal mint has not put into general circulation the last dozen 50p and 2 pound coins so the only recourse is to buy them.
to bypass this I wonder if any of you have any to swap ..I would consider coins from my collection also
They are copying the Royal Australian Mint. They also release lots of $1 and 50 cent commemorative coins in coincards that never find their way into circulation. They actually deliberately do this and the Royal Mint should just come out and say that is the way things are now too.

I totally agree , all their publicity and newsletter , would have you believe they are dedicated to their coin collecting fan base. However , the reality is they are only interested in making money , although they are unlikely to ever admit it.
Given the ever increasing trend towards a cashless society , “coin collecting “ may become a dying hobby , with only “coin buying “ the only remaining option.
I have often thought that Numista and it’s membership should be at the forefront of a campaign to challenge these greedy Mints and coin companies , calling for meetings and petitions. I have reposted this aspect.
