Hello friends!

This is my first post here. I've been collecting coins since I was very little. I have recently discovered Numista and started to catalog my coins. I've also purchase some new albuns from Lighthouse and have organised everything. My collection is open on Numista for those who would like to check it.

I got interested on the number of countries available and focused on getting as many as possible. I don't like old and ancient coins, I prefer shiny modern ones. So I managed to get 250 countries with coins only post year 1800. I think this would be a cool club for those who have a similar taste like mine and it is a doable goal. The only countries with coins after 1800 that I did not get were Isles de France and Bonaparte and Central American Republic, but were so expensive and rare that I did not even considered worth going after.

Here is the list of my 250 countries:

Here are some pictures of my collection, hope you all enjoy it!

Thank you

Bruno

Nice, but what about Saarland, Tannu Tuva, Danzig, Khiva Khanate, Emirate of Bukhara...:))

Hi Bruno,
Nicely done - 250 countries awesome.
My friend has a similar approach to his collection. Maybe 1950's onwards - he has tried to get maximum number of countries with the lowest denomination coin & banknote. He is probably around the 200 countries mark.

Hello there, my list has only the countries according Numista, not the issuers.

I have indeed more issuers, like Tannu Tuva, Saarland, Dahomey...

Thanks!

Obrigado amigo!
Nice collection!

I'm doing mine a little differently. Circulating coins pre-1962 by country.

And yes, Bonaparte and Central American Republic are on my dozen or so "very expensive" list.

Beatiful collection! Thanks for sharing. I really enjoy threads like this because seeing other collections and hearing others approaches always revives some of my on collection interests.

The orientation of your collection is quite interesting :8D
Unfortunately the concept of "country" on Numista does not mean anything at all. It is an assemblage of odds and ends where there are multiple examples of historical nonsense. One of many is the Lorraine "issuer" which is incorporated into the "country" France.
Grinya is right, the "countries" should sooner or later disappear and at that point the "issuers" will become the "countries".
In another type of collection, stamps for example, the same process of geographical grouping has been removed. On the reference site of stamps collection, there are currently 882 countries, for only 305 on Numista, because the process of sorting by "issuers" is in progress ...
But why not launch a club concerning the modern "issuers"?

Dear friend

For me the most important always were the current 206 sovereign states recognized by United Nations (193 member states, 2 observer states and 11 other states). That was always my goal.

After I achieved that (except for Micronesia and Kosovo, that never emitted coins) I started looking for the territory dependencies, which for me are just as important for mine collector's point of view.

For me also very important is the ISO 3166 list of current 249 countries.

After all that I discovered Numista and I started searching just for fun to complete 250 modern countries, there were just a few missing. Come on, Christiania is a country? Of course I know it isn't.

For my parameters I managed to get all the countries that I wanted, I completed my goal.

A list of modern issuers would be cool indeed, I will look into that!

Thanks and best wishes!
Country is a fantasy classification in Numista

Depends on the opinion of referees. It can change any time :D
