1. Who was the founder of a university who suggested the name of a popular American drink invented by a friend of his in the 19th century?

2. What stamp entity misspelled its name on its first 23 stamps?

First response with correct answers to both questions received at or before 8 PM eastern US time August 12, 2021 wins. Answers can be spread across responses. If no correct answer received first response wins. My decision as to winner will be final.

Good luck to all who participate!

Hi again.

1) The founder of the university who suggested the name of Coca cola was John Stith Pemberton in May, 1886.
It's region of origin was Atlanta, Georgia.

2) Ireland as an entity may have misspelled its name itself on its first 23 stamps. EIRE was mistakenly printed on stamps rather ÉIRE.

best regards.
Sorry, Subha. Pemberton actually invented Coca-Cola. I don't think Pemberton founded a university. Your answer gave me some fun researching it. My question is who suggested a name for a drink to the drink's inventor. The man who suggested the name also founded a university.

For question 2 Ireland is not correct.
Wild guess for #1: Johns Hopkins
No clue yet for #2.
I’m wondering if Will Keith Kellogg suggested Coca Cola to pemberton and founded the Kellogg’s college and Cal Poly Pomona
Coca-Cola is the wrong drink.

I can't find the answer for the second one but I know the answer for the first for a while now. So maybe this will help someone. Is not Coca-Cola is root beer, and the founder of the university is Russell Conwell.
Allexis, Nice job on discovering the drink is root beer, invented by Charles Hires. His friend, Russell Conwell, the founder of Temple University in Philadelphia, told him to name it root beer, as that would sell better than root tea, which Hires was considering.

So we can consider question 1 answered and the winner will be either whoever comes up with the correct answer to question 2 (hint: the stamps were issued in the 21st century in an English-speaking entity) or our friend Subha in Bangladesh, who recognizes the value of submitting early answers.

Keep trying and good luck!

Will
Before you gave us the hint that it was an English-speaking entity I was going to say Macedonia which issued stamps in 2012 with their name spelled wrong.
Found it it's Mayreau. Grenadines of Saint Vincent.
Or is it the U.S. who as an English speaking entity issued its stamps in Philippines as "Phillippines" ?
with an extra "l" ?

allexis is the winner! Congratulations!

According to Michel the island Mayreau had stamps with the name Myreau printed on them in 2006. See photos on Colnect site.

I really thought it would be harder to identify Russell Conwell for this giveaway. Good job allexis! Don't be discouraged Subha!

More giveaways coming!

Will
Thanks again! It wasn't hard to identify Russell Conwell as I didn't think Coca-Cola was the answer from the begining.
