Portugal 1 Euro 2002 Question

3 posts
I have a question about my Portugal 1 Euro coin.

How can I tell if its a (fr) BE, (fr) BU, (fr) tranche à 28 stries, or (fr) tranche normale à 29 stries?.

I got my coins from this guy from Portugal a few years back; well back in 2002 when they first came out, and I just don't know how y'all decide what is what lol.

Thanks for the help.

Those four references are for the French side of this site. The (fr) means on their pages those notes are written (without (fr) on them) and the first two are condition, and the other two are varieties. On the page just change en to fr to see the other version, like below. Sometimes on their pages they will see (en) on a page; it means on the French page there are no notes against the coin, but there are on the English page.

Just looking up what those four mean ...
From memory BE means Belle Epreuve [Proof ?] and BU means Brillant Universelle [which is not Brilliant Uncirculated, I think]. The 28 or 29 means the number of ridges on the edge - a Numista member 'cobra' has his own good site with many varieties on, with pictures, and yours is on there ...

The translation I got is 'tranche à 28 stries' equals 'portion 28 streaks' and I assume is ridges, but may mean the indentations between them, which would affect the count.
There is a page (with BE and BU) on the fore-mentioned French side, if you can get it translated ...

Great and thanks for the reply.

However I don't see anything for just the 2002 INCM . I already did the other Portugal Euro coins with just "2002 INCM" but when it comes to the 1 Euro there is none.
